Pirates vs Blue Jays Prediction, Picks, and Odds for Today’s MLB Game

Toronto's offense took much of the blame during the team's early season struggles, but with the bats heating up, our MLB picks expect the Jays to blow the brakes off the Pirates.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to push their season-best four-game win streak to five on June 1 when they continue their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Rogers Centre.

My Pirates vs. Blue Jays predictions think Toronto will win, and will do so convincingly. Find out what I mean in my MLB picks ahead.

Pirates vs Blue Jays prediction

My best bet
Blue Jays -1.5 (+125 at PROLINE+)

My analysis
The Toronto Blue Jays’ struggles at the plate have been well-documented this season, but the club may be finally turning things around thanks to some strong depth hitting.

While George Springer is batting .400 and Bo Bichette has notched five RBI over the past week, Toronto has been able to spread out the offense thanks to meaningful contributions from Davis Schneider (.250, 9 RBI) and Isiah Kiner-Falefa (.350, 4 RBI).

The Pittsburgh Pirates will look to keep the Jays’ bats at bay as they send Mitch Keller to the mound, who comes into today on a four-game win streak of his own. Keller is likely overperforming right now, though, as his xERA (4.64) and hard-hit percentage (44.3%) each rank in the Bottom 25 percentile of Major League starters.

It’s just a matter of time before Keller comes crashing back down to earth, and a Toronto team averaging 6.2 runs per game over its last five contests is certainly capable of handing the Pirates starter his first loss since April.

Blue Jays star player prop

My best bet
Davis Schneider Over 0.5 RBI (+175 at PROLINE+)

Schneider stole the show again on Friday night with a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 14th, and I’ll look for him to continue his hot streak at the plate with another RBI today.

Schneider has been an offensive catalyst for the Blue Jays with a team-leading nine RBI over the past week and has driven in at least one run in six of his last seven games.

Schneider has hit righties (.255) slightly better than lefties (.231) this season, so I like his chances to keep his run going against Pirates starter Mitch Keller.
