Thanks to a doubleheader, there is an absolutely loaded 16-game slate on the MLB betting board today, which means a cornucopia of baseball prop bets to dive into.

We look at yet another red-hot hitter for the Blue Jays as they visit the Nationals, while Corbin Burnes will try keep improving his odds to win the National League Cy Young when the Brewers take on the Cardinals.

We break down and pick these games and more with our best free MLB prop bets and predictions for Tuesday, August 17.

Today’s MLB props and picks

Teoscar Hernandez Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105)

Part of what makes this Toronto Blue Jays offense so dangerous is that there are so many guys who can carry the load when others are in a slump. Right now, that guy is Teoscar Hernandez.

The Jays’ outfielder is tearing the cover off the ball right now. Hernandez is hitting a ridiculous .531 with a 1.406 OPS over his last eight games. He has multi-hit games in six of those eight and will get a chance to stay hot in this one.

The Jays open a series against the Washington Nationals and starter Erick Fedde. The right-hander is in a bit of a slump right now and has a 6.08 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .317 over his last four starts. Bet on Teo to keep swinging a big stick in this one.

Corbin Burnes Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (+155)

Milwaukee Brewers starter Corbin Burnes has pitched his way back into the National League Cy Young Award race.

Since the start of July, Burnes has looked close to unhittable. The right-hander is pitching to a 1.75 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP, is striking out 11.1 batters per nine innings, and is limiting opponents to a .208 batting average over seven starts.

Today, he faces a St. Louis Cardinals team that ranks 17th in batting average and 21st in OPS when it comes to facing right-handed pitchers. Burnes has also allowed just one run on six hits over 11 innings against the Cards this season.

So, Burnes is dealing right now, has had success in this matchup, and is averaging over 6.5 innings per start over this seven-game stretch. To get this kind of value on this number is too good to pass up.

Mets-Giants Under 4.5 Five-Inning Under (-120)

The Mets’ skid continued last night, falling to the Giants 7-5. It was their 11th loss in their last 15 games and it won’t get any easier in Game 2 of this matchup, as they’ll have to go up against one of the hottest pitchers in baseball – Logan Webb.

Yup, you read that right, Webb is in one heck of a groove right now. The right-hander is pitching to a 1.75 ERA and is limiting opponents to a .195 batting average in seven starts since returning from the IL in the beginning of July.

He faces a Mets team that ranks 24th in batting average and 23rd in OPS when it comes to facing a right-hander and is plating just 3.47 runs per game over this 15-game stretch.

The Mets hand the ball to Marcus Stroman in hopes of putting a stop to that skid. The right-hander has pitched to a 2.91 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP over his last six starts and while the Giants provide a tough task, Stroman is more than capable of pitching well in this one. Bet pitching to be the story early here.
