The Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros will play the rubber match of their three-game series at Minute Maid Park before a national audience on Sunday night. The Astros were shockingly blanked by the White Sox on Saturday as starter Justin Verlander got rocked in a 7-0 defeat, but Houston triumphed 13-3 over the South Siders on Friday night.
Here are plenty of interesting props worth playing in this primetime affair, starting with Chicago starter Michael Kopech’s hit total. We’ll also discuss the chances of Yordan Alvarez staying red-hot at the plate for the ‘Stros, and A.J. Pollock dealing damage from the leadoff spot for the White Sox.

Kopech keeps hits to a minimum
Michael Kopech may not dominate the Astros’ lineup on Sunday night, but he should ensure that Houston does not begin the hit parade early. Kopech has allowed only 24 hits over 51 2-3 innings this season. The converted reliever has pitched past the sixth inning just once this year, a seven-inning shutout of the Yankees on May 22.
Kopech was subsequently beaten up by the Blue Jays for six hits over a mere three innings before being sent to the showers on June 1. That was his only start this season in which he allowed five or more hits. The Texas native would bounce back with six innings of one-hit baseball against the Dodgers, before leaving his June 12 start against the Rangers in the first inning with a minor knee injury.
That ailment may keep manager Tony La Russa from letting Kopech pitch very deep into this game, further increasing the chances that he’ll avoid allowing five Houston hits. Kopech can also issue his fair share of walks, as he’s amassed 24 to this point. The Astros’ lineup can be content to wait for their opportunities, as they’re eighth in walks drawn on the campaign.
Pick: Kopech Under 4.5 hits allowed (-136 at FanDuel)
Amazing Alvarez
Yordan Alvarez took an 0-for-3 at the plate in Houston’s 7-0 Saturday defeat, snapping a season-best five-game streak in which he recorded at least one RBI. He should get back on the beam in short order on Sunday.
Alvarez took reliever Matt Foster deep during a damaging sixth inning in Friday’s 13-3 triumph over the White Sox, his first homer since June 7. He’s been tearing the cover off the ball this month, going .444 at the dish with four homers and a team-best 19 RBI.
Alvarez is now tied for third in the AL in RBI (47) in 2022. Shockingly, teams have been content to pitch to the star slugger, as he’s drawn only seven walks in June but struck out just six times in the same span.
Prop bettors should be confident in the abilities of Jose Altuve and Michael Brantley to get on base in front of Alvarez, as the former is fresh off his fourth multi-hit game of the month, while the latter has hit safely in all but one June start.
Pick: Alvarez Over 0.5 RBI (+115 at FanDuel)
Pollock will paint Javier into a corner
A.J. Pollock has been a menace to opposing pitchers in June, primarily from the leadoff hole. He should be at it again on Sunday night. From June 9 to June 15, Pollock had strung together seven multi-hit games, crossing the plate at least once on four occasions.
He doesn’t demonstrate the typical patience of a leadoff man, drawing just three walks over his last 66 plate appearances. However, Pollock doesn’t really have to employ that ability against Houston starter Christian Javier, who’s allowed 7.1 hits per nine innings in 2022.
Once the veteran outfielder sets the table, the likes of Luis Robert and Jose Abreu — batting .300 and .328 in June, respectively, will do the rest.
Pick: Pollock Over 0.5 runs (-110 at FanDuel)
