Hot Sandy

There is no hotter pitcher in baseball than Sandy Alcantara. The Miami Marlins’ starter will look to keep throwing heat when he takes the ball tonight against the visiting San Francisco Giants.

Alcantara has been absolutely dealing over his last four starts. The right-hander has allowed just three earned runs on 15 hits while striking out 32 in 32 innings pitched. He has also thrown at least seven innings in each of those four games.

He’ll have a tough matchup against the Giants, who have handled right-handers pretty well this season. That includes Alcantara, in his first start of the season, but he's at a different level now and San Francisco is in a bit of a slump.

During this four-game stretch, Alcantara has lowered his expected ERA to 2.55 and his opponent expected batting average to .195, while the Giants are hitting just .222 over their last six games. That ranks 25th in MLB over that span, and their .681 OPS ranks 20th.

Bet on Alcantara to pitch deep into another ball game and take the Over on his outs recorded prop — a number he has gone Over in four straight starts.

Pick: Sandy Alcantara Over 19.5 outs recorded (-129 at Caesars

Mashing Mancini

Not many hitters had a better month of May than the Baltimore Orioles’ Trey Mancini, and he’ll look to stay hot in the month of June as the O’s continue their series with the Seattle Mariners.

Mancini played 27 games in the month of May and he failed to record a hit in just six of them. That resulted in a .363 batting average and a .910 OPS. He got off to a solid start in June as well, going 2-4 with a double and a home run in last night’s 9-2 win over the M’s.

Mancini will get a great chance to stay hot when he digs in against Mariners’ starter Chris Flexen. While the right-hander is coming off a solid effort against the Houston Astros, overall, it has been a tough go of things for him this season.

Flexen is pitching to an expected ERA of 5.68, is surrendering a .294 expected batting average to opponents, and is striking out just 6.6 batters per nine innings.  He has also given up six or more hits in six of his last seven starts.

Bet on Mancini to stay locked in against Flexen and a Seattle bullpen that ranks 20th in opponent batting average. Particularly when are getting better than even money, even though Mancini has gone Over 1.5 total bases 15 times in his last 28 games.

Pick: Trey Mancini Over 1.5 total bases (+115 at DraftKings)

Make it eight

We are going back to the well with Willson Contreras’ total bases prop tonight while he is still in his current groove, and the Cubs catcher will try to stay hot when they open a series with the hated St. Louis Cardinals.

Contreras is currently in the middle of a seven-game hitting streak where he’s put up a .370 batting average and a 1.247 OPS — including him whacking two doubles and three dingers. Tonight, it will be Cardinals rookie Matthew Liberatore tasked with slowing down Contreras.

Liberatore is a command pitcher with a nasty curveball, but his sinker is lacking sink and his fastball lacks bite at this early point in his career. As a result, he has an expected ERA of 4.78 and is giving up a .261 expected batting average to opponents over his first two starts.

Contreras has also hit lefties well over the course of his career and this year is no different, hitting for a .310 batting average and a 1.134 OPS when facing southpaws.

Additionally, Liberatore hasn’t pitched long into games, not going more than five innings in his first two starts. That should mean plenty of work for an already taxed bullpen that ranks 19th in WHIP and 16th in opponent batting average.

Bet on Contreras to keep swinging a hot stick in this one and take the Over on his total bases at plus money.

Pick: Willson Contreras Over 1.5 total bases (+110 at DraftKings)
