Starting pitchers
Jackson Kowar (MLB Debut): The future is now in Kansas City with Kowar joining fellow 2018 first-rounders Brady Singer and Kris Bubic in the Royals rotation.
The 24-year-old has dominated Triple-A competition at Omaha, going 5-0 with a 0.85 ERA and 41 strikeouts through 31 2-3 innings.
Dylan Bundy (0-6, 6.32 ERA): Bundy is still looking for his first win of the season after 10 starts. The right-hander was the Halos' most reliable pitcher in 2020 but has struggled this season.
In his previous outing last week, he surrendered four runs on three dingers before getting the hook midway through the sixth inning.

Betting trend to know
The Royals are 8-3 in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record. Find more MLB betting trends for Royals vs. Angels.
Moneyline pick
The Royals are coming off back-to-back losses which snapped a five-game winning streak. Kansas City is still one game above .500, while the Angels are 27-32 and fresh off a loss of their own.
Despite mustering just one run against Minnesota last night, the Royals have been hitting very well lately, plating 6.78 runs per game over the last 10 days.
The big question mark for tonight's game is just how well KC starter Jackson Kowar will throw in his big league debut. Don't be surprised if Kowar pitches well, since he dominated the minors and has a fastball that tops out at 99 mph. And that's not even his best pitch, with Kowar throwing an incredible changeup and improving his curveball.
Luckily for Kowar, he won't have to face three-time AL MVP Mike Trout, who has been out since May 17. The Angels have been inconsistent at the plate without Trout, ranking just 20th in the majors with an OPS of .690 over the last 30 days.
The Halos will send Dylan Bundy to the hill tonight and the veteran right-hander has struggled, pitching to a 1.32 WHIP and opponent batting average of .264 through 10 starts. Los Angeles is just 2-7 in Bundy's last nine starts which has us backing KC on the moneyline.
PREDICTION: ML Kansas City (+135)
Over/Under pick
The Royals have been cooking on offense lately, with slugger Salvador Perez driving in 12 RBI over his last nine games and White Merrifield batting .400 over his previous seven contests. With that offensive boost, the Royals have gone 7-1-2 to the Over in their last 10 games.
Meanwhile, Bundy has been brutal recently, pitching to a 12.33 ERA over his last four starts and surrendering seven home runs in his last 12 innings pitched.
It doesn't get much better after Bundy, with the Halos bullpen ranking 27th in the majors with an ERA of 4.92.
While we think Kowar has all the tools to be a future star, he's still a 24-year-old pitching in his first big league game and the Angels have a strong lineup that averages 5.39 runs per game at home. Take the Over.
PREDICTION: Over 9 (-110)
