The Toronto Blue Jays’ bats stayed hot last night, taking their series opener against the Chicago White Sox by a score of 6-5 and extending their winning streak to six games.
The Jays will go for lucky No. 7 when they hand the ball to Hyun-jin Ryu but it won’t be easy. While the Pale Hose have struggled to score, they still handle lefties well and counter Ryu with talented up-and-comer Michael Kopech.

White Sox vs Blue Jays betting preview
Starting pitchers
Michael Kopech (1-1, 1.29 ERA): It’s been a breakout start to the 2022 campaign for Kopech. The right-hander has allowed just six earned runs over his first eight starts of the season, never surrendering more than four hits in any of those games.
Hyun Jin Ryu (2-0, 5.48 ERA): Ryu has looked more like his old effective self since returning from a forearm injury that caused him to miss a month of action. The lefty has allowed just three earned runs in 15 2-3 innings (three starts).

White Sox vs Blue Jays picks and predictions
Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.
Moneyline analysis
The Blue Jays rode a two-home run game from Alejandro Kirk and held on for the 6-5 win in their series opener against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. Toronto also got a few more hits with runners in scoring position and is now hitting .339 with RISP during this six-game winning streak. That’s miles better than the .178 average the Jays were batting prior to their weekend sweep of the Los Angeles Angels.
The Jays will be in tough tonight, however, against White Sox starter Michael Kopech. The right-hander has been outstanding for the Sox this season, pitching to an expected ERA of 2.70 and limiting opponents to a ridiculously low batting average of .185. He also hasn’t allowed an earned run in five of his eight starts.
Even though the Blue Jays have been hitting with more regularity of late, they still rank 15th in OPS and 17th in batting average when facing right-handed pitching.
The Jays counter Kopech with Hyun-jin Ryu. The lefty has been solid since returning from a forearm injury. He’s pitching to a 1.72 ERA in his three starts since rejoining the rotation but he’s getting hit fairly hard, giving up 16 hits.
While the White Sox’s lineup has not been as potent as expected this season and will also be without Tim Anderson for the time being, they have still gone a solid job producing against southpaws, ranking fourth in batting average and seventh in OPS when facing lefties.
The White Sox were probably a little unlucky to come away with the loss last night. They should be able to string enough hits together against Ryu to steal a win in Toronto tonight.
Prediction: White Sox (+150 at DraftKings)
Over/Under analysis
When it comes to the total, the early money has come in on the Over, but the number is now high enough to lean the other way.
Kopech has the ability to make life tough on the Blue Jays. Not only has he been great all season, but he also seems to be getting better with each start. Over his last three appearances, he has allowed just three runs on four hits over 19 innings of work. Those games all came against a surprisingly strong Cleveland Guardians offense and two matchups against the red-hot New York Yankees.
On the other side, Ryu has been giving up hits, he’s done a solid job of navigating that trouble giving up three earned runs since returning from the injury report. While the White Sox still do a solid job of facing lefties, they, like the Blue Jays, struggle to drive in baserunners, ranking 24th in batting average with RISP.
Prediction: Under 8.5 (-110 at FanDuel)
Best bet
Jays fans should be very excited about the way the team is starting to hit but as we’ve stated multiple times, this matchup with Kopech will be a tough one. Kopech can locate his electric fastball all over the zone and mixes it with a devastating slider to keep hitters off balance and create a lot of soft contact.
He’s also been super-efficient over his last three starts, lasting at least six innings in each, never throwing more than 92 pitches. Bet on him to have another long outing against a Jays team that likes to swing early in counts.
Pick: Michael Kopech Over 15.5 outs recorded (+152 at Caesars)
