Both the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners are set to begin a crucial series at T-Mobile Park this evening.
New York's focus remains squarely on winning the AL East, as it remains locked in a tight battle with Baltimore for first place. My Yankees vs Mariners predictions expect hard-throwing righty Luis Gil to lead the charge for the Bronx Bombers.

Yankees vs Mariners prediction
My best bet
Luis Gil Over 6.5 strikeouts (-105 at bet365)
Best odds available in your region
My analysis
Last week when we talked about Luis Gil starting, we mentioned that he's returned to form.
Since returning from the IL earlier this month, the New York Yankees right-hander has pitched two games and surrendered just one run. More importantly, he's starting to get stretched out in preparation for the postseason. Gil's 97 pitches in his last start against Kansas City was the most he's made in over a month, and that bodes well for our best bet.
Gil last exceeded this number two starts ago against the Cubs, racking up seven punchouts. That came in just an 89-pitch appearance, and he'll likely face an even longer leash tonight.
No team in baseball has averaged more strikeouts this season than the Seattle Mariners, averaging 10 per game. If you expand our handicap to teams with a high whiff rate, Gil has generally excelled with Ks.
The combination of Gil getting deeper work into games while facing a team that strikes out at the highest clip in baseball creates the perfect storm for our handicap.
Aaron Judge pick: Absolute discharge
My best bet
Aaron Judge Under 1.5 bases (-161 at BetMGM)
My analysis
If Judge will struggle with a pitcher, Bryan Woo fits the mold. There may not be a better pitcher in baseball at inducing soft contact and avoiding the barrel of bats.
This is entirely what Judge's success as a hitter is predicated on. Yes, he's undoubtedly one of the best power hitters in baseball, but if there's any pitch he will struggle against, it's Woo's lethal sinker.
Yankees vs Mariners same-game parlay (SGP)
Woo ranks in the Top 10% of baseball in both barrel rate and hard-hit rate, and that should nullify New York's biggest strength.
Given that the Yankees can struggle from time to time to piece together consecutive hits, that makes a low-scoring game an attractive wager.
