After winning last season’s Supporters Shield, New England has had a rough start to this campaign.
They now hit the road in search of their first victory away from home this season, as they head to Atlanta to square off with a United team that seems to be snake-bitten by injuries this season but has yet to suffer defeat at home.
Will the Revs be able to figure out their road woes and build off their recent resurgence? Read our Atlanta United vs New England Revolution MLS picks and predictions below to find out.

Side analysis
Right now in the city of Atlanta, the word “Achilles” is a literal curse word to soccer fans. That’s because last weekend saw star center back Miles Robinson suffer the same injury that took down goalkeeper Brad Guzan last month during their 4-1 victory over the Chicago Fire.
United are in the midst of an injury crisis that has seen their backline decimated, with fellow goalkeeper Dylan Castanheira out for the season with – that’s right – a ruptured Achilles, and star forward Josef Martinez still yet to return from a knee injury.
Their latest injury came Wednesday night when defender Andrew Gutman went down with a separated shoulder, as Atlanta blew a 2-0 lead in their U.S. Open Cup match with Nashville and lost in extra time.
Now they return home, where they've gone 12 straight matches unbeaten dating back to last season. They do so after scoring more goals against Chicago than they did in the entire month of April. After a strong start to the season, United have taken just one victory in their last five matches, suffering three defeats, and will hope to turn that around against the Revs.
Speaking of New England, injuries of their own caused a rough start as at one point they were without half of their starting lineup. A four-match losing streak has played a big role in them winning just three times in their first 10 matches. They've also earned just one point in their four away matches this season while conceding 11 goals.
Compounding matters is the fact that of their 18 goals conceded this season, 11 have come after halftime, and they’ve conceded eight after the 75th minute. Their inability to close out matches has caused them to drop seven points due to late goals, as evidenced by conceding an 89th-minute equalizer last weekend in their 2-2 draw with Columbus.
Their confidence will be boosted by a 5-1 win over FC Cincinnati mid-week in the U.S. Open Cup, where forward Adam Buksa scored a brace to give him goals in four consecutive matches in all competitions. Carles Gil has assisted three of those goals and has registered assists in his last four matches, as the reigning MVP of the league is heating up after missing time due to injury. Gil’s 61 shots created for teammates this season rank second in the league.
Only two teams have put more shots on goal than Atlanta’s 53 this season, and they're fifth in the league in total shots. Ronaldo Cisneros scored a hat trick inside of 36 minutes last weekend en route to being named Continental Player of the Week, and he is linking up very well with Marcelino Moreno and Brooks Lennon, who, between them, have created 70 shots this season. Moreno, Cisneros, Luiz Araujo, and Thiago Almada are lethal when they get into the open field, and New England’s defense will be heavily tested by Cisneros’ pace.
This is a matchup between a team that hasn’t lost at home in months and a team that simply cannot get results away from home. It’s hard to go against two trends that clearly line up in this manner, especially with United’s fans at their back.
Take Atlanta to win the match in what will likely be a high-scoring affair.
Prediction: Atlanta United (+100 at DraftKings)
Over/Under analysis
Atlanta has seen each of their last three matches tally at least three goals, and a fair amount of that damage has come in the first half.
In two of those three fixtures, both teams were on the board before the halftime break, with all three opponents getting a first-half tally. In seven of their 10 matches this season, there has been at least one goal before halftime.
On the flip side, New England’s last eight matches have all seen at least three goals scored, and just once in their 10 matches in 2022 have both teams been scoreless at the halftime interval.
With the defensive issues on both sides, I really like both teams to score in the first half, but I’ll take the safer play and go with multiple goals in the first 45 minutes.
Prediction: First half Over 1.5 (+150 at DraftKings)
Best bet
Along those same lines, I absolutely love New England to get a goal in the first half. Atlanta has allowed just 14 goals this season and has allowed only one opponent to score multiple goals against them at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
That said, they’ve had issues with conceding early goals this season, allowing 11 goals during the first half. To make matters worse, each of their last three MLS opponents has scored inside of 30 minutes, with their last two getting on the score sheet within a quarter of an hour.
In four of their last five matches, New England has put one into the back of the net prior to halftime, and they’ve done so in three of their four away matches this campaign as well. With Gil and Buksa firing on all cylinders at the moment, and the serious question marks surrounding Atlanta’s defense, I can’t turn down getting plus odds on the Revs scoring before the break.
Pick: New England first-half Over 0.5 (+125 at DraftKings)
