My analysis
The New York Knicks’ status as title contenders has taken a major hit over the past week after lopsided losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics, but there’s far less doubt about their ability to torch the NBA’s sub .500 teams.
I’m expecting Tom Thibodeau to stick with his tried and tested formula of heavy minutes for his starters, and Josh Hart should be a beneficiary tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers, especially with Karl-Anthony Towns listed as questionable.
In an offense headlined by Towns and Jalen Brunson, Hart is never going to be a primary scoring option, but he’s made the most of his chances. He’s averaging 20.7 ppg this month, and I like the Over on a combo prop that also leans on Hart’s elite rebounding skills.
While OG Anunoby has been dealing with a foot issue and Mikal Bridges’ scoring has dipped in February, Hart keeps grinding away. He’s dropped in 17 or more points in six of his past seven games, including a 30-point effort against the Indiana Pacers just before the All-Star break.
Hart’s work on the glass is even steadier. He’s posted double-digit rebounds in three straight contests, and he’s grabbed at least eight boards in 17 of his past 19 contests.
I don’t see Philadelphia putting up much resistance here on the heels of a miserable 142-110 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday. With Joel Embiid ruled out, the 76ers are vulnerable in the paint, and Hart should cash in as part of a bounce-back night for New York.

I’m taking the Over on 6.5 assists for Jalen Brunson and doubling down on a Knicks offense that ranks fifth in the NBA with 117.9 ppg. Brunson was kept in check by Boston’s relentless backcourt at the weekend but he’s averaging 7.4 apg this year and we should see much more of his playmaking tonight.
His assist totals have spiked at Madison Square Garden, where he’s dished seven or more dimes in six of his last eight outings, including 12 assists against the Bulls last week.
I just don’t see the case for Philadelphia keeping this contest close. The visitors have a top-six protected 2025 draft pick to consider, and they’re 1-9 ATS in their past 10 games. Two of the 76ers’ last three losses have come by 20 points or more.
Even with such a large line, laying the points with New York feels like the safer play. The Knicks have covered the spread in each of the past three meetings between these teams, and they’ve got the rest advantage here too.
