My analysis
After struggling on offense last season and averaging just 18 points, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland has bounced back in a big way. Through the first half of the 2024-25 campaign, he’s averaging a career-best 21.8 points and is hitting 50.1% of his shots from the field and 42.6% from beyond the arc while knocking down three triples per tilt. Those are all personal bests and he's been even better over the last month.
Across his last 15, Garland has averaged 24.9 points and hit the Over on this line 10 times. He’s scored at least 22 points in six of his last seven and will look to keep the momentum rolling on the road tonight against the Detroit Pistons.
Garland’s home-road scoring splits were cavernous last season, but he’s been better offensively away from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse this season, averaging 20.2 points compared to 23 at home. Garland has scored at least 20 points in five straight road games, and he’s reached 22 points in four of them.
The Pistons have allowed opposing PGs to average 23.2 points per game this season, good for ninth-most. Over the last seven, Detroit has surrendered 24.9 points to the position, good for seventh-most.
Garland has averaged 22.2 points across his last six meetings with the Pistons and hit the Over four times. Donovan Mitchell was featured in yesterday’s Cavaliers preview, and he cooked against the Celtics. It’s Garland’s turn for a feature, and I expect a big offensive showing tonight.

At 25-25, this year’s Pistons have already recorded their most wins in a season since 2018-19, and it’s only been 50 games.
Detroit has been surprisingly competitive, and the team is 25-24-1 ATS. The Cavs are 5.5-point favorites, and I’m not as confident in that pick as I am in Cleveland winning straight up. I’ll take the Cavs ML rather than betting against Detroit keeping it close at home.
Cade Cunningham is in the midst of a career-best season, and he’s averaging 41.7 PRAs at home. The Cavaliers have allowed opposing PGs to average a healthy 40.2 PRAs, and Cunningham should clear the Over while stuffing the stat sheet yet again. He’s hit the Over on this line in six of his last eight.
