This total seems a tad too high at 241. These divisional foes have already played three times this season, failing to combine for more than 237 points in each contest.
With their middle-of-the-pack defense and slow pace, the New York Knicks are ninth in the league in scoring defense — surrendering just 111.8 points per game. They could also have tired legs today after beating Indiana on the road last night.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have tightened up defensively over the past month but continue to struggle on offense. Over the last 15 games, the Hawks rank just 27th in the NBA in offensive rating but seventh in defensive rating.
This is a lineup that doesn't have much firepower after losing Jalen Johnson to a season-ending injury in late January and trading away De'Andre Hunter at the deadline. Although Vit Krejci had emerged as a key rotational piece, the Czech guard is now sidelined as well.
Trae Young is the only player they can rely on for offense, but he's extremely inefficient, averaging 4.8 turnovers per game while shooting just 40.8% from the floor. He's also dealing with Achilles tendinitis and will be at less than full strength tonight.
