Get set for a Tuesday night NBA clash with potential playoff-seeding implications when the Atlanta Hawks meet the Orlando Magic.

Atlanta has injury concerns that affect its defense, and my Hawks vs. Magic predictions expect Paolo Banchero to have a big scoring night as a result.

Read on as I share my NBA picks for Tuesday, April 8.

Hawks vs Magic prediction

My best bet: Paolo Banchero Over 28.5 points (-120 at bet365)

My analysis
The Orlando Magic have faced plenty of trials this season.

They’ve lost key personnel for extended periods of time, but somehow, they’ve found a way to hang onto the seventh seed in the East. Those seven seeds are important as that seed is guaranteed to host play-in games.

The Atlanta Hawks also know a thing or two about injuries.

Losing Jalen Johnson mid-season hurt, but not having their main rim protector, Clint Capella, on the floor has caused real problems for Atlanta defensively.

Atlanta lost to Orlando in their last meeting in the ATL, mainly because they didn't have legit rim protection. Magic forward Paolo Banchero scored 36 points that night, and he could torch the Hawks again tonight.

Banchero’s big scoring night was the second consecutive time he scored 30+ against the Hawks. The Magic forward got what he wanted inside and outside, and when he didn’t, he wound up at the charity stripe.

The Magic forward has been difficult for anyone to slow. He’s scored 29 points or more in 10 of his last 16, and the Hawks will struggle to keep Banchero from scoring at least 29 points tonight.

Hawks vs Magic same-game parlay

Paolo Banchero Over 28.5 points

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Over 1.5 assists

Magic moneyline

It’s hard not to like the Banchero scoring prop, and his scoring 29+ should give the Magic a much-needed victory heading into the playoffs.

Orlando averages the fewest assists per game in the NBA, but if we are to play an Orlando assist prop, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is a good choice. He’s averaged 1.8 assists this season and has dished two or more dimes in three of his previous five.

Banchero will get his buckets, but the Magic lead with their defense. They’ve surrendered the fewest ppg this season (105), which has dipped to 102 ppg across their last 10. That defense should thwart Atlanta's plans to win this game.

The Hawks have dropped three of four, and I expect the Magic defense and Banchero to come out on top.
