The Hornets have lost eight of their last nine and head to the Mecca riding a six-game losing streak. Charlotte played New York tough on Black Friday, finishing with a 99-98 loss at home, but the matchup will be a bit more difficult on the road tonight.

My Hornets vs. Knicks predictions expect the Knicks to cover a monster spread and keep this a low-scoring game. My NBA picks are also looking to New York big Karl-Anthony Towns to continue doing what he does best.

Hornets vs Knicks prediction

My best bet
Knicks -14.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis

The Charlotte Hornets gave the New York Knicks all they could handle on Black Friday, and the Knicks came away with a one-point road victory. The Knicks were 12.5-point favorites in that one and failed to cover.

Despite losing so often, Charlotte has done a great job of keeping the score close. The Hornets have kept their last four games within six points, and they’ve gone 10 straight without losing by 15 or more.

However, Charlotte’s recent streak of covering the spread is due in part to playing five straight and six of seven at home. The Hornets are -2.2 per game at home and -8.6 per game on the road.

Over its last two games, New York has won by 15 and 33, respectively. They’ve come away with victories of 15 points or more in five of their last eight.

On the season, New York has won eight games by at least 15 points, which is third-most in the NBA. The Knicks have been superb at home, and their 14.2-point differential is bested only by Orlando.

Charlotte surprised New York last Friday with such a hard-fought game, but the difference in talent between these teams — particularly with LaMelo Ball out — is staggering. I expect New York to deliver another blowout win at home against a far inferior team.

Hornets vs Knicks same-game parlay

Knicks -14.5

Karl-Anthony Towns Over 12.5 rebounds

Under 218

Don’t look now, but Karl-Anthony Towns leads the Association in rebounds per game at 13.1. He’s been even more productive on the glass across his last nine contests, pulling down 14.2 rebounds a night.

He’s hit the Over in two straight and six of his last nine. Towns has averaged 13.4 boards at home compared to 12.9 on the road, and he’s grabbed at least 13 boards in half of his home games.

Charlotte has allowed the 14th-most rebounds, including the 10th-most offensive rebounds across their last three. Towns should have no problem cashing this prop, even if the Knicks win comfortably. He leads the Association in rebounds per minute and pulled down at least 13 rebounds in six double-digit victories this season.

New York’s defense has been impressive over its last three, allowing just 96.3 points per game. On the season, the Knicks have allowed the sixth-fewest points per game at home at 105.4.

Charlotte averages the fifth-fewest points per game at just 107.3, and the team has averaged just 102 across its last three. Charlotte will be without LaMelo Ball for a fourth straight game, which means the offense will likely continue to suffer.

Since 2022-23, the Hornets have scored 112.9 points per game with a 112.3 offensive rating in 76 games with Ball. In 109 games without Ball, Charlotte has averaged 105.6 points with a 108.5 offensive rating.

I’m expecting New York to win this one in blowout fashion, which typically favors the Under.
