Knicks vs Warriors Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

The Golden State Warriors had their way with the New York Knicks in their first matchup of the season and if Steph Curry & Co. keeps that same energy, then they will make sure that the team comes out on top again as they play host at Chase Center this time around.

The New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors will face off at Chase Center on Saturday night, with Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges taking on Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET, and the game will air on ABC.

The Golden State Warriors are one of the hottest teams in the NBA following the acquisition of Jimmy Butler, while the New York Knicks are just hoping to tread water in the absence of Jalen Brunson, who is out with an injury.

Find out why I’m backing Stephen Curry and the Warriors to maintain their momentum in my NBA picks for Knicks vs. Warriors predictions on Saturday, March 15.

Knicks vs Warriors prediction

My best bet: Stephen Curry Over 5.5 assists (-120 at bet365)

My analysis
The trade acquisition of Jimmy Butler has not only led to the Golden State Warriors winning 13 of their last 15 games since the trade—with one of the losses coming in a game Butler didn't even play in—but having Butler in the lineup has also unlocked Steph Curry’s offensive game.

Everything has been easier for Curry on the offensive end with Butler in the lineup. Over these 15 games, Curry is averaging 28.6 points per game, more than four points higher than his season average.

With all the attention on Curry's points prop, we're shifting our focus to his assists prop, which he has gone Under in four straight games. Since Curry has stayed Under the number four times in a row, this total has dropped from 6.5 to 5.5, creating an edge for us on this prop.

The Under streak shouldn't scare you—Curry’s potential assists over his last 15 games are higher than his season average, and the matchup against the Knicks plays directly into the hands of this prop.

When Curry faced the New York Knicks on March 4, Mikal Bridges was his primary defender, and the Knicks were extremely quick to show help the second Bridges looked like he was beaten off the dribble. This led to Curry dishing out 9 assists on 14 potential assists. The Warriors’ roster is filled with willing cutters who work off Curry’s shooting threat, and they will be able to finish around the rim against Karl-Anthony Towns’ rim protection.

The Warriors also made a conscious effort to push the pace against the Knicks, generating several potential assists for Curry in the open court. On Saturday, Curry will have one of his fastest, most athletic teammates back in the lineup—Jonathan Kuminga.

Curry is projected to have 6.6 assists against the Knicks on Saturday, which allows us to price the Over 5.5 assists at -165, but it is available at bet365 for -120. This is a favorable probability gap that we can exploit, created solely by the total dropping from 6.5 to 5.5 thanks to the recent Under streak.

Knicks vs Warriors same-game parlay

Stephen Curry 7+ assists

Jimmy Butler 20+ points

Golden State Warriors moneyline

As always, if you're playing an SGP, you're looking for a bigger payout on a small wager, so we’re going with the alternate Over of 7+ assists for Curry instead of the standard total of 5.5. With Curry projected for 6.6 dimes, the alt of 7+ is definitely in play here.

I'm also including Butler to score 20+ points in the SGP because if Curry is dishing out assists, a couple of them will likely result in made buckets by Butler, as these two have been working in tandem extremely well. This is also a personal matchup for Butler—if you remember his time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, he and Towns do not get along, and I’m sure Butler will have an extra gear for Towns on Saturday.

The final leg we’re rolling with is the Warriors on the moneyline. Without Brunson in the lineup, the Knicks will have to rely on Towns more often, and the Warriors have not one but two defenders who have bothered him in the past—Draymond Green and Butler. Both players can match Towns’ speed and have no problem being physical with him. The Knicks escaped with an overtime win against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, but I don’t think they walk away with a win in this spot.
