Nets vs Heat Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Miami's Offense Catches Fire

Despite the absence of Tyler Herro, the Miami Heat continue to win games as their offense looks as smooth as ever. With Brooklyn's mediocre defense in town, our NBA picks are backing the Heatles to run up the scoreboard.

Latest NBA Picks

The Miami Heat are rolling after a rough start and they’ll look to extend their winning streak to seven games when the Brooklyn Nets roll into town.

A few eyebrows were raised when the Heatles slipped to 1-4 out of the gate, but they’ve rebounded impressively and outlasted the Charlotte Hornets 111-105 on Tuesday behind a season-high 32 points from Jimmy Butler.

Brooklyn arrives on the heels of back-to-back victories, and It's already edged Miami at Kaseya Center this season in a 109-105 final on November 1.

Nets vs Heat predictions

No matter who’s injured or absent, you can be sure whoever steps onto the court in a Miami Heat jersey is going to be ready. That’s just the Erik Spoelstra way, and it’s paid off for Miami so far this season.

With contributions up and down the roster, I’m trusting in the Heat formula again tonight and taking the Over on a team total of 109.5.

Miami has gone past that number in each of its last three games — including a 118-113 win over the San Antonio Spurs over the weekend — and the versatility of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo has kept the Heat humming along despite Tyler Herro’s ankle injury.

It helps that the hosts are getting big minutes from Haywood Highsmith and Jaime Jaquez Jr., who combined for 29 points in Tuesday’s win over the Hornets, while Duncan Robinson looks all the way back as a deadly 3-point marksman.

Though the Brooklyn Nets boast respected perimeter defenders, they’re giving up 112.5 points a game this year (17th in the league) and will be without Ben Simmons again tonight.

The Heat scored 111 points last time out despite going just 8-for-31 from downtown, and I expect the hosts to deliver some home cooking tonight on their return from a 4-0 road trip.

My best bet: Heat team total Over 109.5 (-115 at bet365)

Nets vs Heat same-game parlay

Heat team total Over 109.5

Bam Adebayo Over 22.5 points

Spencer Dinwiddie Over 14.5 points

I’m building out this SGP with a pair of points prop picks. First, Adebayo is carrying a bigger offensive burden in the absence of Herro and he’s averaged 25 points a night over his past five contests.

With Mikal Bridges and Dorian Finney-Smith likely to be draped all over Butler, look for the Heat to turn to Bam for quality looks in the paint. He’s shooting 52% from the field this season and doesn’t need a ton of shots to hit the Over.

I’m counting on Spencer Dinwiddie here too. His scoring is down to 12.5 points a game so far this year, but there were signs of him turning the corner in a 29-point effort against the Magic on Tuesday.

With Cam Thomas sidelined by an ankle injury, there are more shots up for grabs in this Brooklyn offense... and it’s no coincidence that Dinwiddie had a season-high 18 field goal attempts — including 10 from downtown — in the win over Orlando. I expect him to get a similar volume tonight, paving the way for the Over on his points prop.

Nets vs Heat spread and Over/Under analysis

The Heat are unbeaten this month since losing to the Nets on November 1, and the hosts enter as 3.5-point favorites. That feels about right given how well Miami is playing — and it’s also worth remembering the Heat were in control of that prior matchup before losing the fourth quarter 34-22.

There’s some value to grabbing the points with the visitors. Miami hasn’t exactly been blowing teams away on its win streak, with all six victories coming by eight points or fewer.

Though I’ve picked Miami to show up offensively, don’t count on this turning into a high-scoring game. The Under is 4-1 in the Heat’s last five games, and an Adebayo-led defense tends to keep the Under in play.

But the Nets shot 54% overall on Tuesday against the Magic and they’re third in the NBA in 3-point percentage (38%). Combined with the Heat’s crafty scorers, that makes the Over an intriguing pick, though the Under has been a winning ticket in seven of the past 10 meetings between these teams.
