Two teams that have been finding wins few and far between lately will face off on Sunday night as the Utah Jazz welcome the Brooklyn Nets to Salt Lake City.
Without many of the best players on both teams available tonight, I’m backing the Under in my Nets vs. Jazz predictions below.

My analysis
Both the Brooklyn Nets and Utah Jazz are 2-8 since they last faced off on December 21. And while neither team was expected to contend this season even at full strength, these teams will now get a rematch in Utah with far from their ideal rosters on display.
That’s especially true for the Nets, who are riding a four-game losing streak heading into tonight’s game. Cam Thomas, Cam Johnson, and D’Angelo Russell have all missed time and are once again listed as out for the game against the Jazz, three of a total of seven players ruled out of playing tonight.
That leaves Brooklyn without its top three scorers. That’s a tough spot to be in for the Nets, who have gotten above the 100-point mark in just one of their last four games and are averaging only 107.2 ppg on the year —good for 28th in the NBA. With a lack of scoring options, it may be difficult for this squad to reach triple-digits on the road.
The Jazz aren’t facing quite as much of an injury crisis, but they’re not exactly healthy, either. Brice Sensabaugh, who was a scoring revelation for the Jazz last weekend, hasn’t played since and missed Saturday’s game against the Suns with an illness. John Collins is similarly day-to-day with a hip injury, while Jordan Clarkson is out with a torn plantar fascia.
With Lauri Markkanen (20.1 ppg) and Collin Sexton (18.1 ppg) both expected to play tonight, Utah does retain some top-end talent to score the ball, but playing in the second game of a back-to-back is never easy. With the lineup shortened due to injuries, fatigue is likely to be an issue for the Jazz.
To be fair, neither of these teams can play much defense either, even when they’re at full strength, but that's masked somewhat by the fact they both play at relatively slow paces, with Brooklyn especially looking to slow down play in the half-court game. And with this many scorers out on both sides, I don’t expect much explosiveness on the court to break down these mediocre defensive squads.
The first meeting between these teams resulted in a 105-94 win for the Jazz, for a total of just 199 points. If anything, this game is poised to come in at an even lower total. I’m taking the Under.
Nets vs Jazz same-game parlay
The Under is my best play tonight, but I’m also taking the Jazz to win as part of my SGP. While both of these teams have been struggling, Utah has at least shown itself to be competitive as of late, staying in games and scoring recent wins over the Magic and Heat, even on the road.
The Jazz have covered in each of their last five games, while Brooklyn has dropped four in a row against the spread (as well as straight up), all as underdogs. The Nets are also just 1-7 straight up in their last eight games, and it’s hard to see them turning that around on the road without most of their key players.
