The Detroit Pistons mostly stood pat at the trade deadline, showing confidence in the development of their budding group.
The Pistons enter this matchup with a 27-26 record, good for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are led by Cade Cunningham and a young core that features Jalen Duren, Ausar Thompson, and Jaden Ivey.
Detroit has gotten better on both ends of the floor thanks in part to Cunningham's breakout season. The star point guard is averaging 25.5 points, 9.5 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game. They rank 15th in offensive rating and 12th in defensive rating heading into tonight's matchup with the Chicago Bulls.
On the other hand, the Bulls are in the midst of blowing it all up after trading away Zach LaVine. They have lost six of their last nine overall and look like on of the worst defensive teams in the NBA.
Chicago has the fourth-worst defensive rating in basketball and allow the second-most points per game at a whopping 120.1 per contest. The Bulls have allowed at least 121 points in six of their last seven games, including to this same Pistons team in a 127-119 loss back on Feb. 5.
