Life without Zach LaVine hasn’t been pretty for the Chicago Bulls, who dealt the All-Star away as part of a three-way deal that netted them a pair of draft picks.
After an initial win over the Heat, the Bulls have dropped three in a row and are scoring just 103.7 points per game. The Bulls have been a Top-10 scoring team this season, averaging 116.1 points per contest.
They were crushed 132-92 by the Detroit Pistons in their second-lowest scoring output of the season. They shot just 35% from the field, including a woeful 21.3% from 3-point range.
The Bulls have the worst interior scoring defense in the league, allowing 55.5 points in the paint. Detroit showed no mercy, pouring in 60 paint points.
The Pistons have now reeled off three straight wins and sit in the six-slot in the East, 1.5 games up on the Heat. Detroit has taken advantage of their weak slate, averaging 123 points in double-digit wins over the 76ers, Hornets, and Bulls, improving its record to 18-9 on the year vs. sub-.500 squads.
This will be the third meeting between these teams in the last 10 days to end the regular season series, and the Pistons have been an offensive juggernaut. They beat Chicago 127-119 on February 2 before the Tuesday-night trouncing, where Detroit’s lead bulged to as much as 49 points.
