Ice Trae

Despite hip discomfort, Hawks All-Star point guard Trae Young is listed as probable for Sunday. Atlanta will need him to be at his best if they want to beat the Celtics who have won seven in a row. Young is averaging 27.6 ppg but hasn't shot the ball well lately, scoring 22 points or fewer in three of his last four games.

He won't find it easy to get open looks against a Boston team that has the league's best defensive rating and is holding foes to just 97.5 ppg on 41.5 percent shooting in its last 20 games.

Young has played two games against the Celtics this season and was held to 21 points on 32% shooting three weeks ago while scoring just 18 points on a 33.3 FG% on November 17. With defensive stopper Marcus Smart likely to match up against Young, fade him on his points total today.

Pick: Trae Young Under 27.5 points (-115 at DraftKings)

Fancy Feast for KAT

Karl-Anthony Towns may or may not be a Wordle fraud but his All-Star credentials this season are legitimate. The Timberwolves center is averaging 24.3 points per game on 52/41/82 shooting splits and should be in for a big game against an Indiana squad that jettisoned Domantas Sabonis at the trade deadline.

With Myles Turner still sidelined by a foot injury, the Pacers are rolling with a trio of bigs featuring Goga Bitadze, Tristan Thompson, and Jalen Smith. Those three don't have the athleticism to handle Towns and gave up 22 points on 12 field goal attempts to Jarrett Allen on Friday.

Towns is fresh off a 27-point performance against the Bulls on Friday where he went 12-19 from the field. He might be in line for even more shots today with Anthony Edwards (18.2 field goal attempts per game) listed as questionable with a patella injury. Take the Over on Towns' points.

Pick: Towns Over 24.5 points (-116 at FanDuel)

Tyrese trying to do too much

While the Pacers lost Sabonis in that recent trade with Sacramento, they did get back second-year point guard Tyrese Haliburton who has plenty of promise. Haliburton had 23 points and six assists in 40 minutes against the Cavs in his Pacers debut on Friday. That said, he also turned the ball over six times.

The Timberwolves aren't an elite defensive team but they do a good job of pressuring opposing ball handlers, which is no surprise with Patrick Beverley leading the charge. The T-Wolves actually lead the league with 16.6 opponent turnovers per game.

Indiana doesn't have many shot creators around Haliburton (no offense to Buddy Hield and Chris Duarte) and the 21-year-old will be the primary ball-handler until Malcolm Brogdon returns from injury. That's a heavy burden for the youngster who will no doubt put up solid scoring and assists numbers but will also make plenty of mistakes as he tries to carry the offense.

Pick: Haliburton Over 2.5 turnovers (-130 at DraftKings)
