Today’s best NBA player props

Joker's Rebound Rodeo

It may surprise you to realize despite having a dominant force on the inside like Joel Embiid, the Philadelphia 76ers are not a great rebounding team as a whole. That should make things interesting tonight when they welcome Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets to town for a battle of the MVP frontrunners.

Yes, we wouldn’t pass on picking a prop when the betting favorites to win the NBA MVP Award are facing off so late in the season, and the juiciest looking one is the Over on Jokic rebounds.

The Joker is arguably having an even better season than he was the year before when he won the award and after seeing Embiid at the top of the odds board for most of the season, Denver's big boy has slowly and surely closed that gap.

That’s thanks to averaging 26.1 points with a 61.5 effective field goal percentage while adding 13.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists. All while leading the Nuggets to a 40-28 record without the team's second and third best players all season long.

But back to the Sixers and their subpar work on the boards. Philly actually has the third-worst rebounding percentage in the NBA while ranking 20th in opponent rebounds per game.

Now, Joker hauled down just 10 boards in his last meeting against the Sixers back in mid-November but over his last 13 games, his rebounding average is up to 14.3 per contest and he's gone Over 13.5 eight times in that span.

In a game where both big men will try to show who “da real MVP” is, I’m betting Jokic will put in his best work on the glass. And it doesn’t hurt we’re getting plus money as well.

Pick: Nikola Jokic Over 13.5 rebounds (+105)

Mobley Mania

The Cleveland Cavaliers are down one of their two towers as Jarrett Allen continues to be sidelined with a broken finger, but the remaining tower has stood tall. Yes, rookie Evan Mobley has picked up his game without his running mate and should be primed for another big night when the Cavs host the Los Angeles Clippers.

Mobley is the betting favorite for the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award thanks to averaging 14.9 points, and 8.3 rebounds while being a difference-maker on the defensive end of the floor. He has taken his game to the next level since becoming the Cavs go-to big man.

In the four games since Allen broke his finger, Mobley has upped his averages to 19.5 points and 12 rebounds per game and would have eclipsed tonight’s points + rebounding total of 27.5 three times in that four-game stretch. This should be no different against the Clippers on Monday night.

For starters, the Clippers are one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA, ranking 25th in rebounding percentage and 28th in opponent rpg. They also rank 25th when it comes to opponent points in the paint per game.

On top of that, they are playing in the second half of a back-to-back after squeaking out a win against the Pistons last night. Look for the Cavs to lean on Mobley in this one who can use his size to overpower a tired L.A. team and go Over his points + rebounds prop once again with Allen M.I.A.

Pick: Evan Mobley Over 27.5 points + rebounds (-120)

Super Shaiyan

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has looked close to unstoppable since returning from an ankle injury at the end of February. Gilgeous-Alexander will look to stay hot when he and the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.

SGA has been rolling for the Thunder, averaging 30.2 points per game while shooting 52.2% from the field in the nine games since returning to the OKC lineup.  Outside one dreadful shooting performance against the Timberwolves, he has put up at least 29 points in eight of those nine games and 31 or more in seven.

Now, he faces a Hornets team that has more holes on defense than a beehive. Charlotte ranks 23rd in defensive rating, 25th in opponent effective field goal percentage, 20th in points in the paint and gives up the second most 3-point attempts per game.

While the Thunder have the likes of Luguentz Dort and Josh Giddey to support him, SGA has seemingly become scoring option No. 1, two, and three for the OKC. He should be in for another solid performance against the Hornets who have recently given up big numbers to Kyrie Irving, Dejonte Murray, and Darius Garland.

Pick: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 27.5 points (-115)

It’s not an interesting story. Seriously.
