Best NBA Player Props Today for March 24: Trenting in the Right Direction

Gary Trent Jr. is a viable sharpshooter and will take advantage of a soft Phoenix perimeter defense to clear a modest points prop total tonight.

A new week of NBA action tips off with eight games on the schedule tonight. Some are quite intriguing like Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks taking on Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. Some, not so much, like the Toronto Raptors facing off against the Washington Wizards.

But the great thing about NBA prop bets is that we can find value in both. And I have. Here are my NBA picks for those games and more on Monday, March 24.

NBA player props for March 24

Jakob Poeltl 15+ points (+165 at bet365)

It’s another tank-off matchup as the Toronto Raptors visit the Washington Wizards

While these Eastern Conference teams split a pair of meetings a couple of weeks ago, the Wizards have clearly done a better job of committing to the tank, have lost four in a row, and are the proud owners of the NBA's worst record at 15-55.

The 24-47 Raptors, on the other hand, may, despite a four-game losing streak of their own and what looks like injury report manipulation, have a little too much talent on the roster to keep up (down?) with the Wiz.

Just look at the game logs for starting center Jakob Poeltl. The Raps' big man has not played back-to-back games since March 4, sitting out every other game since then. Well, luckily for us, he didn’t play in Toronto’s last game against the San Antonio Spurs and should suit up for this juicy matchup against Washington.

Poeltl has been super efficient, averaging 16.8 points on 73.5% shooting in just under 24 minutes per game during this one-game-on, one-game-off stretch.

He has scored 16 or more points in five of his last six games and now plays a Wizards defense that ranks 28th in defensive rating and allows the fifth-most points in the paint per game. And in the one game he did play against the Wiz back on March 8, he went 9-for-13 from the floor for 21 points.

Poeltl’s point total is 12.5, but I’m going with his milestone points at 15+, which is priced at +165.

Coby White Over 4.5 assists (+115 at bet365)

You can call it the running of the Bulls because the Chicago Bulls are using their high-tempo offense to go on a run as the playoffs quickly approach.

The Bulls have won seven of their last nine games, and, unless something goes horribly wrong, will likely end up in the Play-In tournament. This run has been fueled by their offense, which plays at the third-highest pace since the All-Star break.

Chicago is putting up 121.8 points per game during that period, and Coby White is a big part of that uptick.

The Bulls guard has been cooking all March, averaging 29.1 points over 11 games. Even though White has taken a shoot-first approach lately, he’s still getting his teammates involved averaging 3.9 assists over his last 10 games.

His assists prop is 4.5 for tonight’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets and the Over is giving us some value at plus money.

It sounds like the Nuggets will once again be without MVP Nikola Jokic who has missed the last four games with an ankle injury. While Jokic’s presence is clearly missed on offense, he’s also the anchor of the Nuggets defense.

Denver ranks 25th in defensive rating since the All-Star break and has been beaten by teams willing to make the extra pass all season long, ranking dead last in opponent assists per game.

With both teams in the Top 12 in pace since the break, that should lead to some extra possessions, giving White ample opportunity to go Over this number. Something he has done twice in his last three games.

The cherry on top is our Covers Prop Projections have him at 5.1 assists tonight.

Gary Trent Jr. Over 11.5 points (-125 at bet365)

The Milwaukee Bucks have been plagued by inconsistent play. It just doesn’t feel like a team with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard should be only 10 games over .500 at this point in the season.

But that’s where the Bucks sit heading into tonight’s matchup with the Phoenix Suns

Now, one thing that could help as the playoffs approach is getting better contributions on the regular from guys not named Giannis and Dame, particularly with both of those guys banged up heading into this matchup. And one guy who has been stepping up lately is Gary Trent Jr.

The Bucks’ sixth man has found his shooting rhythm and has seen more time on the floor as a result. Trent is averaging 10.8 points per game, but that is up to 13.4 in March (10 games). He is shooting an impressive 40.5% from 3-point range over that span and I like him to stay hot against the Suns.

Now, Phoenix is feeling a little better these days. The Suns have won three in a row and have crept back into the Play-In (thanks to the Dallas Mavericks' implosion).

The problem for the Suns is that while Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are doing their best to keep this team afloat, the team’s play at the defensive end of the floor hasn’t been good enough.

Phoenix ranks 24th in defensive rating since coming out of the All-Star break and has been consistently burned by the 3-ball. The Suns allow the fifth-most attempted threes per game while ranking 24th in opponent 3-point shooting percentage during this period.

Suffice it to say, this is a solid matchup for Trent, whose point total is 11.5, a number he's eclipsed in eight of his last 13. And with our Covers Prop Projections having Trent at 14.1 points, his milestone of 15+ points at +180 doesn’t look bad either.
