Best NBA Player Props Today for 11-6: The New Norm

With Kawhi Leonard sidelined and Paul George no longer in town, Norman Powell has had no choice but to light it up for the Clippers. He highlights our NBA prop picks for November 6 below.

You don’t have to look far for juicy storylines on tonight’s NBA schedule, headlined by a spicy clash between the Celtics and Warriors.

That 2022 Finals rematch, amped up after the fallout from the Team USA Olympic experience, will get all the headlines, but we’ll also see a showdown between Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the Thunder try to move to 8-0.

With 24 teams in action, the NBA player props market is in overdrive, and my favorite NBA picks include a Jayson Tatum wager and two other scorers thriving in bigger roles.

NBA player props for November 6

Prop bet #1: Jayson Tatum Over 29.5 points

-120 at bet365

Rightly or wrongly, the Boston Celtics crowd is going to make this a long night for Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors. Kerr has taken plenty of heat for the Team USA decision to overlook Jaylen Brown as an injury replacement and make Jayson Tatum such a peripheral figure in Paris.

While Tatum has steered clear of any controversial comments, the Olympic experience (on the heels of championship joy) left a mark, and this is surely a game he’s had circled since the schedule came out.

Tatum is going to do his talking on the court — and I’m picking him for a blistering offensive game.

This is about more than just the revenge factor. The Celtics are missing Brown and — even with such a balanced offense — the ball should be in Tatum’s hands more often. He’s also been on a tear during Boston’s 7-1 start, including 26 points in the first half against the Hawks on Monday.

Sure, the Warriors can call on versatile wing defenders, but I don’t see that making a difference with Tatum in this kind of form. He’s reached the 30-point mark four times this season, and he’ll be a man on a mission tonight.

Prop bet #2: Jalen Johnson Over 27.5 points + rebounds

-110 at bet365

At 3-5, the Atlanta Hawks are trending towards another underwhelming season, but they can at least point to some promising young talent if they pivot into a retooling process.

Jalen Johnson is at the top of that list. He only turns 23 next month, and he’s getting more opportunities in the Atlanta offense this year with Dejounte Murray no longer in town.

He’s filled the box score through the first eight games, and I’m taking the Over on this combo prop, with Johnson primed for big minutes again tonight against the New York Knicks. He’s tied for 13th in the league with 36.4 mpg, and his length will be needed to combat New York’s length and physicality.

Johnson is coming off a 20-point, 11-rebound effort on Monday, despite the blowout nature of Atlanta's loss to the Celtics, and he’s cruised past this line in four of his last five contests.

While he’s elite on the boards for his size, with 20 field goal attempts in each of his past two outings, he might get close to the Over in points alone.

Prop bet #3: Norman Powell Over 20.5 points

-115 at bet365

The Los Angeles Clippers go head-to-head with a familiar face tonight as Paul George and the Philadelphia 76ers visit Intuit Dome — and we’re already seeing that George’s departure has opened the door for other L.A. scorers to step up.

Norman Powell has been the biggest beneficiary of those extra shots and minutes, and I expect him to continue his impressive start here. As long as Kawhi Leonard remains sidelined, Powell has a path to leading the Clippers in scoring on a nightly basis.

He’s averaging 24.9 ppg through the first two weeks of the season, including a 45% mark from downtown, and he has an even brighter green light to attack when James Harden is on the bench.

This O/U line for the Powell points prop feels low to me, especially given Philadelphia’s wobbly defensive stats without Joel Embiid. The 76ers are allowing 116.7 ppg,  21st in the league. With Powell going past this 20.5 number in his past four outings, I’ll gladly add this to my card.
