Best NBA Player Props Today for March 12: The Hart of the Matter

Josh Hart has been a do-it-all piece for the Knicks this season, resulting in a ton of double-doubles as he continues to stuff the stat sheet. That continues as part of tonight's NBA player props.

We’ve got an awesome night of NBA action ahead of us with nine games on the schedule to wager on and enjoy, including a potential Finals preview with the Boston Celtics hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder.

You know we’ve got to have an NBA player prop for this epic showdown, and shocker, it picks on the Thunder on the boards. That plus my other favorite NBA picks for Wednesday, March 12.

NBA player props for March 12

Kristaps Porzingis Over 5.5 rebounds (+100 at bet365)

We get a potential NBA Finals preview when Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder visit Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics.

These title contenders have a combined six losses since the start of February. There is little separating them but one area where Boston should have an advantage is on the glass.

For all of the things OKC does well, rebounding isn’t one of them. The Thunder enter this matchup ranking 23rd in rebounding rate and 26th in opponent rebounds per game. Meanwhile, the Celtics are 13th in rebounding rate.

That has me targeting Kristaps Porzingis, who was present at shootaround today despite missing the last few games with an illness. Porzingis is averaging 6.8 rebounds per game this season, but his rebounding prop is at just 5.5, likely due to the potential minutes limit.

But in this matchup at this price, it’s hard to say no to the Over. Porzingis has topped this number in 22 of his 32 games (69%) and in seven of his last 11 overall. If Porzingis is on the court, I like him to top this number tonight.

Zach Edey 10+ points (+100 at bet365)

The Utah Jazz are showing everyone how a tank is really done. The Jazz have only five wins since Jan. 15 and have dropped their last six. They’ll go for lucky No. 7 when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies tonight.

Guys have been popping on and off the Jazz’s injury report with not surprising regularity, as multiple impact players continue to miss games with what appear to be minor ailments.

Keyonte George is already out for tonight's matchup against the Grizz while Jordan Clarkson and Lauri Markkanen are both listed as questionable. So, keep an eye on the Jazz injury report all the way up until tipoff.

But one thing is for certain. No matter who is on the court, Utah's ability to prevent buckets has been downright awful this season, ranking next-to-last in defensive rating and 26th in opponent effective field-goal percentage.

The Jazz are also getting pummelled down low where they rank 22nd in opponent points in the paint per game. It hasn’t helped that Walker Kessler and John Collins have been in-and-out of the lineup a lot lately. They aren’t on the injury report right now, but once again, keep an eye out.

Either way, that has me looking at Zach Edey’s points prop. The Grizzlies rookie is averaging 9.2 points per game this season and even though his production has dipped recently, I like him to get back on track here.

However, 8.5 points looks like a bit of a dead number for Edey, so I’ll target his alt line of 10+ at even money. He’s hit double digits in three of his last six games overall and this is an extremely favorable matchup.

Josh Hart double-double (+105 at bet365)

The New York Knicks got a much-needed win over the Sacramento Kings last time out and they’ll try to notch back-to-back wins when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers and I’m betting Josh Hart will be a big part of that pursuit.

Hart continues to be a Swiss Army knife for Tom Thibodeau by averaging 14.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. He's also recorded 28 double-doubles this season and I like his odds to record another tonight.

While Hart has been stuffing the stat sheet all season long, almost all of his numbers have seen an uptick since Christmas Day. In 33 games since then, Hart's averaging 15 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 5.7 assists with 18 of his 28 double-doubles.

Hart’s double-doubles are almost entirely predicated on rebounds. His rebounding prop for tonight is set at 9.5 with our Covers Prop Projections predicting 10.5.

The Trail Blazers are mid when it comes to boards, ranking 17th in rebounding rate and 16th in opponent rebounds per game.

But more than that, the Blazers have taken the ninth-most field-goal attempts per game since the All-Star break while still ranking 18th in effective field-goal percentage. Combine that with the sixth-highest pace over that span and there should be plenty of boards for Hart to haul down on the way to another double-double.

The sportsbook where he does the bulk of his betting is bet365 thanks to its numerous prop betting options and competitive odds. His best advice? Find the balance between the numbers and what you see on the playing field. Then find the best price using multiple books. And don’t ask him where the nickname Taco comes from. It’s not an interesting story. Seriously.
