Rockets vs Pacers Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Indiana Can't Stop Sengun

The Rockets have had a rollercoaster season up to this point, but one constant has been the play of Alperen Sengun. With plenty of possessions expected, our NBA picks anticipate plenty of rebounding opportunities for Houston's big man.

Former championship-winning teammates Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam collide tonight as the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers square off in a matchup of teams on the rise.

The Pacers enter as big favorites in the latest NBA odds and snapped a three-game skid with Sunday’s 115-99 win over the Charlotte Hornets. But they’re sweating on the availability of Tyrese Haliburton, who’s being eased back after a hamstring injury.

A play-in spot is still well within reach for Houston, but it's 4-6 in over the past 10 contests and was second-best from the start in a 111-90 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves over the weekend.

Read on for my free NBA picks for the Rockets vs Pacers on February 6.

Rockets vs Pacers predictions

In another season, when the Western Conference wasn’t so loaded with superstar talent, an All-Star case for Alperen Sengun might have got more traction.

With the Houston Rockets amid an impressive turnaround year, Sengun has been a revelation and his numbers — almost 22 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists — still don’t quite do justice to his impact as one of the engines for the Rockets’ playoff push.

I like the look of the Sengun props tonight. His scoring has fluctuated — he’s had 30 or more points three times in his last 10 outings, and 15 points or fewer four times in that span — but his points prop has some appeal against a leaky Indiana Pacers defense.

But the even bigger draw for me is his rebounding prop, with the line set at 9.5 with most sportsbooks. Sengun’s production on the boards has been rock solid, and I love the Over here.

He’s served up double-digit boards in nine of his last 10 games, including a 13-rebound effort in just 29 minutes against the Toronto Raptors on Friday.

Against a high tempo Pacers team that averages 93 shots per game (second-most in the NBA), Sengun should be busy cleaning the glass — and he did just that in the team's prior meeting this season, finishing with 16 rebounds back in late December.

My best bet: Alperen Sengun Over 9.5 rebounds  (-110 at bet365)

Rockets vs Pacers same-game parlay

Alperen Sengun Over 9.5 rebounds

Pascal Siakam Over 21.5 points

Over 240.5 points

Whether Haliburton plays limited minutes or sits out, Pascal Siakam is the No. 1 scoring option for the Pacers in the interim — and he delivered on Sunday with 25 points on 11-for-20 shooting.

He’s had 22 points or more in three of his last four games, and he should be knocking on the door of 20 field goal attempts again here. Going up against VanVleet for the first time should stir some friendly rivalry too. I like the Over on his points prop.

The Pacers have cashed in the game total Over in 26 of their last 36 games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and they were on the wrong end of a 133-122 shootout against the Sacramento Kings in their last home contest.

The hosts lead the league in points per game and field goal percentage, while giving up the third most points each night.

Rockets vs Pacers spread and Over/Under analysis

With Houston dragging a 5-17 road record into this battle, this is shaping up as a good spot for Indiana, who enters as a 7.5-point favorite.

That spread seems to assume that Haliburton will be available, though with the careful ongoing monitoring of his playing time. He hasn’t played more than 22 minutes in any of the four games since he returned on January 30.

Still, with Indiana’s 16-10 home mark this season, and a 28-20-3 ATS record overall, there’s every reason to like the hosts tonight.

It’s no secret that the Pacers have leaned all the way into their offense, and I’m picking another high-scoring thriller, with Houston capable of keeping pace. The Rockets have gone past the 130-point mark in four of their last seven games.

Indiana has hit its team total Over in 47 of its past 75 outings, and there’s a path to doing so again here as Bennedict Mathurin and Buddy Hield continue to provide a valuable scoring punch.
