It’s a Northwest Division showdown as the Utah Jazz will be 7.5-point favorites when they host the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Jazz lead the division at 13-7 but have been inconsistent at times this season and are just 1-3 against the spread over their last four games. And while the Blazers have dropped two in a row, Dame Lillard and the Portland offense have started to heat up after a slow start.

So, which of these rivals is the best basketball bet? Find out in our free NBA picks and predictions for Trail Blazers vs. Jazz on November 29.

Trail Blazers vs Jazz picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

The Jazz enters this matchup having won five of their last seven games to pull away a bit in the Northwest Division. And while the Jazz are known for their defense, they have actually been better on offense this season. In fact, Utah leads the NBA in offensive rating through the early portion of the season.

One reason the Jazz got off to a bit of a slow start was their ice-cold shooting from downtown but over the last seven games, they have begun to look like the team that was one of the best in the NBA over the past couple of seasons. Utah is shooting 41.6 percent from deep over the last seven games, which is the best mark in the Association over that stretch.

Now, the Jazz go up against a Trail Blazers team that is once again struggling on the defensive end of the floor ranking 28th in defensive rating. But where the Blazers have really been battered is on the perimeter. Portland ranks allow opposing teams to shoot 38.5 percent from 3-point range, which ranks 28th in the NBA.

It doesn’t help that the Blazers will be without one of their best defenders in Norman Powell. That could make for a long night against the balance that the Jazz bring at both ends of the floor with Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, and Mike Conley leading the way.

Combine that with the fact the Blazers have struggled mightily on the road this season (1-9 SU/ATS) and it looks like Utah is the side to back in this one.

Prediction: Jazz -7.5 (-110)

When it comes to the total, 223 seems like a high number for a Jazz game but it might not be high enough. We’ve already talked about how the Jazz should have plenty of tempo of offense in this game, but the Blazers are starting to heat up as well.

It’s not shocking that the Blazers scoring 115.2 over the last six games coincides with Damian Lillard’s best stretch of the season thus far. The Portland point guard is averaging 26.3 points while shooting 38.2 percent from 3-point range over that stretch. Lillard is also facilitating for his teammates averaging 7.7 assists per game over the last six games.

While the Jazz have a strong defense, Lillard and CJ McCollum should be able to do enough to send this game Over. On top of that, the Jazz offense has been strong enough to send them Over in five of their last six games overall. That seems like the bet to make on the total in this one.

Prediction: Over 223 (-110)

The Jazz have edges all over the court in this matchup. So, backing them on the spread will be one of our best bets.

But that’s not all. We’re getting a decent number on Rudy Gobert’s point total after two down games against the New Orleans Pelicans. Prior to those games, Gobert had netted 14 or more points in six consecutive games.

Now, he faces a Trail Blazers defense that has struggled to contain opposing centers. The Blazers rank 25th in field goal percentage to opposing centers, giving up 25.2 points per game. They also rank 20th in opponent points in the paint per game.

Bet on Gobert to dominate on the inside in this one.

Pick: Rudy Gobert Over 13.5 Points (-115)
