The No. 1 ranked Auburn Tigers welcome the Mississippi Rebels to The Jungle on Wednesday night.
The Rebels have struggled to cover the spread lately, but my Mississippi vs Auburn predictions expect them to keep things relatively close tonight.

My analysis
The Mississippi Rebels are on a two-game slide, losing to Mississippi State and Vanderbilt to fall out of the AP Top 25. Before that, they barely beat LSU and South Carolina despite those schools sitting at the bottom of the SEC standings.
That said, the Rebels have played up or down to their level of competition all season. Don't forget they beat Alabama and Kentucky while losing in the final seconds to ranked Texas A&M and Purdue. Even in their 92-82 loss to the Auburn Tigers earlier this month, they were within four points with less than two minutes remaining.
The Rebels have an experienced squad with excellent ball movement, and they turn the ball over at the lowest rate in the country. They also have six players averaging double digits in points, and that diverse offense has helped them score just as efficiently on the road as they do at home.
The Tigers are the No. 1 team in the country but are coming off a pair of uninspiring games where they failed to cover against Georgia and Arkansas. They're now just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight home games, and it's fair to question if their lofty ranking has led to some inflated lines at Neville Arena.
The Tigers should have a significant edge in several areas (especially on the glass and from beyond the arc), which is why I expect them to win. However, this spread is a tad too wide against a quality team like Mississippi.

The Rebels are 313th in the country in rebounding rate (47%) with that number dipping to 44.5% this month. Meanwhile, the Tigers are 32nd in in rebounding rate (53.8%), and the 6-foot-11 Cardwell grabbed 13 boards when these teams previously clashed on February 1.
Johni Broome isn't just a high-end scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker, he's also a quality passer. The Wooden Award contender has racked up 4+ assists in five of his last seven games.
When teams attack Mississippi inside, the Rebels collapse hard, opening things up for outside shooters. With Auburn running the ball through Broome in the post, he'll be able to kick it out to open shooters on the perimeter.
