For the second time in three weeks, the Seattle Seahawks clash with the Arizona Cardinals. And with a logjam in the NFC West standings, this Week 14 contest goes a long way in deciding who will win the division.

These rivals bring contrasting results into my Seahawks vs. Cardinals predictions, with Seattle winning two straight games and Arizona on a two-game slide. However, it’s the home team that draws my attention — and my NFL picks.

Let's run down the spread, total, and prop odds for this NFC West war on Sunday, December 8, which kicks off at 4:05 p.m. ET from State Farm Stadium in Arizona on CBS.

Seahawks vs Cardinals predictions

Seahawks vs Cardinals spread prediction

The Arizona Cardinals opened as home favorites below the key number of a field goal and we did see this spread jump to -3 at some books.

Arizona and the Seattle Seahawks played a tight ugly game in Week 12, with the Seahawks squeaking out a win thanks in part to a defensive touchdown. I like the Cards to return the favor but I want to make sure I bet them shorter than the field goal, at -2.5 (-115) at BetMGM.

I'm more interested in the Arizona moneyline, however.

Seahawks vs Cardinals moneyline prediction

If I’m laying the short spread with the home chalk, I’m calling for an outright win as well. Arizona’s two-game losing skid isn’t as bad as it looks on the surface (more on that below) and we find Seattle in a tough situation spot, having to play its second straight road game and its third away tilt in the past four weeks.

I could see a 23-21 win for Arizona in Week 14.

Seahawks vs Cardinals Over/Under prediction

This total has dropped two full points from the opener of 46.5 O/U, but it’s still on the high side of the key total number of 44 points — the fifth most common combined final score in the NFL.

Not enough is being said about the Arizona defense, which has been among the best in the league in the second half of the schedule. Seattle’s defense has also found its way under head coach Mike Macdonald, rating out among the Top 10 stop units in the second half of the season.

I’ll take the Under 44.5 in a divisional game that carries postseason weight.

Seahawks vs Cardinals best bet

Pick: Arizona Cardinals moneyline (-143 at BetMGM)

The Cardinals have lost two in a row despite outgaining both opponents in those defeats, including the 16-6 loss at Seattle in Week 12.

The biggest culprit for Arizona’s shortcomings has been the red zone offense, with the team going a collective 1-for-8 inside their opponents' 20-yard line in those two road losses.

However, the Cardinals come back to the desert for this monster matchup and have seen much better output from the offense inside State Farm Stadium.

Arizona averages 24.2 points per game as a host (four points more than on the road) and owns the No. 1 red zone offense in the NFL at home, in terms of touchdown rate, at 76.47% — compared to dead last on the road at 33.33%.

Putting up points is a welcome thought for the Cardinals' defense, which has quietly become one of the best stop units in the league in the second half of the season.

Arizona ranks No. 6 in EPA allowed per play since Week 7 and has been especially stingy against the pass, thanks to peaking performances from the pass rush. The Cardinals have collected 21 sacks in the last six games, including five sacks on Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith in Week 12.

Smith passed for 254 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the last win over Arizona. His PFF ratings show a notable dip in production when under pressure while performing better against the blitz than most. That’s fine for Arizona, which dials up blitz on less than 20% of opponent dropbacks but still gets after the QB with just the front four.

The Seahawks are also a little lucky to be on a two-game run. They needed a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second half to shake the Cardinals at home in Week 12 and then rallied from a 14-0 hole and edged the Jets on a late TD in New Jersey last Sunday.

Given this game will take on playoff-like intensity, I could see this being very tight. I’m going to pass on laying the -2.5 with the Cardinals and keep it clean with their outright odds on the moneyline.

Seahawks vs Cardinals same-game parlay (SGP)

Cardinals moneyline

Under 44.5

Geno Smith Over 1.5 interceptions

The Cardinals should strike back with a big home win, anchored in their defense and a scoring surge on home turf.

You have two of the better defenses since Week 7 butting heads in a heated divisional rivalry with massive postseason implications.

The Cardinals pass rush is getting after opposing QBs and Geno will get rushed into a few bad throws, one of which gets snatched up by the Arizona defense.
