The Panthers have been a battering ram for opposing running backs, and Jason Logan expects the Bucs to ground and pound them to death in the latest NFC South clash.

I have some good news and bad news for you.

The bad news: I bowed out of the Covers’ 10K Pro Football Survivor Pool in Week 12, along with a lot of others who trusted the Washington Commanders.

The good news: You didn’t have to read about it. I was away last week and therefore didn’t write up my weekly NFL survivor pool selection.

Hopefully, you plotted your own course and it didn’t go through D.C. as there are only 13 remaining contestants in Covers’ survivor pool.

Despite my entry going down in flames, I’m still asked to give survivor support in Week 13. Here is my top survivor pool pick and the safest selection, according to the latest NFL odds.

Covers Week 13 survivor pool pick

Buccaneers Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Opponent: at Carolina Panthers

Moneyline odds: -260 (72% implied win probability)

For the sake of survivor continuity, I’ll play along like I didn’t shit the bed last Sunday. If that was the case, I’d likely be leaning toward the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13.

This isn’t a layup by any means. The Carolina Panthers are playing their best football of the season, and this marks back-to-back road games for a Bucs team that is the most popular pick according to many survivor pool sites. That’s been the "kiss of death" in 2024.

However, the Panthers are still a bad football team. Tampa Bay is grinding it out on the ground, picking up the fourth most yards per carry and facing a run stop unit ranked 31st in the league.

Safest Week 13 survivor pool pick

Chiefs Kansas City Chiefs

Opponent: vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Moneyline odds: -728 (88% implied win probability)

If you’ve still got the Kansas City Chiefs in your holster, this isn’t a bad week to use them.

Kansas City hosts the Las Vegas Raiders for a Friday afternoon AFC West war, with Patrick Mahomes & Co. coming off a close call against Carolina in Week 12. Beyond this contest, the Chiefs have some tougher matchups and could throttle down ahead of the playoffs.

Las Vegas looks like it will have QB Aiden O’Connell back from the IR, leading a Silver & Black attack that ranks dead last in EPA per play.  The Raiders are bringing a pool noodle to a knife fight in Week 13.
