Blues vs Avalanche Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Colorado Smothers St. Louis' Winning Streak

The Avalanche power play is humming. Despite a two-game winning streak, things haven't gone well for the Blues overall and this will be quite the test for a squad struggling on both ends of the ice. The Avs will win, but will they do it in regulation?

The St. Louis Blues have started to get back on track, winning their last two games as they head into Denver to take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche.

The Avalanche have been on a little heater themselves, entering this contest on a four-game winning streak with their power play absolutely buzzing. Their extra-man unit has five goals in the last four games on a total of 13 attempts.

The Avalanche and Blues have developed a little bit of a rivalry dating back to the playoffs last season so this should be a very fun and intense battle tonight. Read on for our free NHL betting picks for Blues vs. Avalanche on Monday, November 14.

Blues vs Avalanche picks and predictions

The St. Louis Blues have been a very tough team to figure out this season. They won their first three games of the year and looked good while doing it, then they went on to lose their next eight games in a row, and now they are on a two-game winning streak. Talk about inconsistency.

The Colorado Avalanche are starting to look like themselves again after getting acclimated to the intensity following a relatively abbreviated summer. The Avs' big three has been absolutely incredible as expected, with Mikko Rantanen leading the way with 10 goals and 13 assists and just 13 games.

Nathan MacKinnon hasn’t been scoring as much since he only has four goals, but he does have 19 assists. Meanwhile, Cale Makar has three tallies with 13 helpers. Colorado’s offense relies heavily on these three and the team ranks third in scoring, averaging 3.69 goals per game.

The Avalanche offense will be a ton of trouble for the Blues who have not been very sharp in their defensive end. They are allowing the third-most scoring chances against per game (12.07) and they have the fourth-worst goals against per game in the league at 3.69.

It also doesn’t help that the Blues offense has not been scoring often, as they enter this game at the very bottom of the goals-per-game list (2.38). They have scored eight goals in their last two games, but tonight will be a massive test.

Alexandar Georgiev has looked comfortable as a full-time starting goaltender, coming into this game with a 7-1-1 record, boasting a .924 SV% and a 2.66 GAA. He shouldn’t have any problems stopping the lackluster Blues forwards.

The Avalanche have certainly been the better team to this point, especially on home ice (4-1-1). I think they will completely dominate tonight and win this battle in regulation.

Blues vs Avalanche moneyline analysis

Even though the Blues have won their last two games, I am still not convinced they can keep up with the high-octane Avalanche. I was very high on St. Louis coming into the season and do truly think that they will turn things around, but they just haven’t found many ways to play a complete 60-minute game as they continue to struggle on both ends of the ice.

The biggest difference in this game might come down to special teams. The Avalanche have the best power play in the NHL and the Blues penalty kill has been absolutely abysmal. The Avs' man-advantage unit is straight-up scary to play against and they have been clicking very well as of late.

Simply put, the Blues are in trouble.

Blues vs Avalanche Over/Under analysis

With the Blues' defensive struggles, this could be a night where we see the Avalanche absolutely explode offensively and put up a ton of goals. They have scored 20 goals in their last four games and show no signs of slowing down. If anything, they might even turn it up even more against an opponent as weak as St. Louis.

Georgiev has been good in goal this season, but I wouldn’t necessarily say that he is the most reliable netminder. He is bound to let up a weak goal or two each night so I think the Blues might be able to beat him a couple of times tonight.

This game should have a very fast, north-south hockey kind of feel to it and I think this Over can hit.
