Blues vs Jets Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: One-Sided Contest Stays Under

With the injury-riddled Blues crossing the border to take on the stingy Jets, tonight should bring a rather one-sided affair — but one that our NHL betting picks expect to stay Under the total.

The Winnipeg Jets and St. Louis Blues are both facing some serious adversity right now.

The Jets enter this game on a three-game losing streak, with their most recent loss coming against the Flyers where they were shut out in a 4-0 loss. The Blues are on a losing streak of their own, having lost four straight with their hopes of getting into the playoff picture continuing to dwindle.

This is going to be a game between two desperate hockey teams, but don’t expect it to be a fun one, because I think it will be rather low scoring.

Blues vs Jets picks and predictions

The St. Louis Blues are missing some key members of their roster right now in Pavel Buchnevich and captain Ryan O’Reilly.

To make matters worse, Robert Thomas is questionable for this game, so those are some of their most important offensive contributors that will not be active against the Jets. The Blues have been struggling offensively as is, scoring just eight goals in their last four games while having the 22nd-highest-scoring offense on the season (3.02 gpg).

The Winnipeg Jets are going through similar offensive struggles as they too have only tallied eight goals in their last four games. That being said, they don’t rely on their offense to win them games as they have one of the league’s best goaltenders in the blue paint: Connor Hellebuyck.

He hasn’t been at the best of his game in the team's most recent stretch, but the blame is not entirely on him. Entering this game, Hellebuyck is skating to a record of 23-15-1 with a .923 save percentage and a 2.46 goals against average. He also has a league’s fourth-best +21.7 goals saved above expected.

With both teams desperate for a win while also struggling offensively, I see this one being very low scoring. I trust Hellebuyck in goal for Winnipeg and he can keep the scoring one-sided in his team's favor. Give me the Under.

My best bet: Under 6 (-115 at BetMGM)

Blues vs Jets moneyline analysis

The Jets are the much better team here, especially considering St. Louis' injuries. The Blues haven’t had the best of luck in recent history in their trips to Winnipeg. They are 0-5 in the last five meetings and I don’t expect that trend to get bucked tonight.

Even though the Jets are on a bit of a skid, the good news is that they've been excellent on home ice all season long, entering this game with a 17-8-0 record at Canada Life Centre.

The Blues aren’t going to pose much of a threat to Winnipeg when it comes to offense. They rank in the Bottom 5 in shots on goal and high-danger chances, so they shouldn’t be generating much against a solid Jets blue line.

Jordan Binnington hasn’t been up to par, losing his last three starts and allowing 11 goals combined in that span. If all goes correctly, the Jets should dominate this game from start to finish.

Blues vs Jets Over/Under analysis

Connor Hellebuyck has found his game once again this season and at times, he can certainly be considered one of the best goalies in the league. Jordan Binnington’s season hasn’t been as glamorous as Hellebuyck’s, entering with an 18-17-3 record along with a .891 SV% and a 3.28 GAA.

The Blues have been a total disappointment this season. They have a strong roster and have been able to piece it together, underperforming on both ends. They're expected to score 2.74 goals per game and at the same time, the Jets are skating to a 3.18 xGF/60.

Neither team is lighting up the score sheet and I can always count on Hellebuyck to keep the puck out of his net. I think this will be a one-sided game, but a low-scoring one in the Jets favor.
