Bruins vs Hurricanes Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Back-to-Back Bruins Get Caught in the Storm

Somehow, the Bruins enter tonight's contest as the losers of two straight. However, we don't see it getting any easier as they take on the Canes on the second night of a back-to-back. Read more in our NHL betting picks below.

The Boston Bruins come into Carolina after losing multiple games in a row for the first time this season and they are hoping to avoid turning that skid into three games.

The Carolina Hurricanes are trying to hunt the Bruins down, winning six of their last seven games and sitting 11 points back of Boston in the league standings.

The home side always seems to prevail whenever these teams get together and in this case, that is a buzzing Canes squad. I expect that trend to continue tonight.

Bruins vs Hurricanes picks and predictions

The Boston Bruins are set to play their fourth straight road game, winning in Montreal and losing in Tampa and South Florida, but tonight they're also playing the second part of a back-to-back set. They fell just short in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Panthers last night.

The story for the Carolina Hurricanes right now is Frederik Andersen who's come away victorious in five straight starts, allowing just nine goals over that span. He's been hurt for most of the season, but he enters this game skating to a 9-3-0 record with a .905 save percentage and a 2.49 goals against average.

His team does a phenomenal job defending in front of him, surrendering the least chances in the entire NHL (9.04 per game). This is arguably the best defensive team in the league, but they will be tested against a very talented Bruins offense.

That being said, the B’s have scored just five goals in their last two games and weren’t able to score on the power play in either contest (0-for-6). Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have been red-hot offensively, combining for 18 goals in their last four games.

This is a great opportunity for Carolina to get the best of the B’s since this will be their third game in four nights, and with the way the Canes have been playing, I love them to win this one outright.

My best bet: Hurricanes moneyline (-130 at BetMGM)

Bruins vs Hurricanes moneyline analysis

The Canes are one of the few teams in the NHL that happen to match up pretty well against the Bruins.

A lot of that has to do with their ability to shut down teams defensively. On top of that, there aren’t many teams that play at as fast of a pace as Carolina, especially on home ice.

Carolina is 15-5-2 at PNC Arena this season and they have one of the more distinct home-ice advantages as far as crowds go. Frederik Andersen also has a .918 SV% and a 2.32 GAA at home. Overall, the team averages 3.41 goals for while allowing just 2.73 at home.

To me, the difference in this game will be the fresher legs which fall in favor of the Hurricanes. Even if both teams were equally rested, I still think the Canes would be able to out-skate Boston, but when you consider the fatigue factor, I like it even more.

Bruins vs Hurricanes Over/Under analysis

Frederik Andersen vs. Linus Ullmark makes for a very strong goaltending matchup, but everyone who has read my stuff knows that I think 5.5 is just too low in today’s NHL.

Both of these teams are averaging more than 3.00 goals per game (Bruins 3.76, Hurricanes 3.25) and I know that they are equally as strong defensively, but the Over happens to be 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings between them.

The Canes are really picking up their momentum, especially offensively, and I think they are going to take that into tonight’s game. On the flip side, Boston’s offense hasn’t struggled all that much this season, so they should be able to get back into a groove sooner rather than later. I'd go with the Over here.
