Flyers vs Penguins Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

The Flyers have owned the in-state rival Penguins of late, yet they're a coin-flip in this spot. Our NHL betting picks will gladly back Philly on Thursday night.

The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Philadelphia Flyers for the second half of a home-and-home set between the rivals.

The Flyers dominated the Penguins en route to a 6-1 victory on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. In fact, it was Philadelphia’s second win over the Penguins this month after a 3-2 decision prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off break.

My Flyers vs. Penguins predictions are expecting a similar outcome again tonight in my best NHL picks for Thursday, February 27.

My analysis
The Philadelphia Flyers just took it to the Pittsburgh Penguins two nights ago and we’re getting a pick’em line tonight? I’m all over this with the Flyers being disrespected by the market.

The Flyers went up early on the Penguins and never looked back on Tuesday. They outshot the Pens 38-24, including 28-21 at 5-on-5. Philadelphia doubled up Pittsburgh in terms of high-danger scoring chances at 5-on-5 with a 14-7 advantage.

Philadelphia is healthy again and flying here out of the break. They’ve outscored the Oilers and Penguins 12-4 since returning to action and are showing some nice resiliency despite being near the basement of the Metropolitan Division.

While Pittsburgh is slightly better at home (13-12-4) than on the road (10-16-5), the Penguins have now lost four straight games. They’ve been outscored 19-7 since the break, allowing at least five goals in each of their three games.

Samuel Errson is getting the start for the Flyers and his numbers are getting to be quite respectable at 18-10-3 with a 2.76 GAA and .896 SV%. He’s been stellar since the holiday break, going 11-4-1 with a .919 SV% and just 34 goals against in 16 games.

It’ll be Alex Nedejlkovic in net for Pittsburgh, and he’s allowed 11 goals on 51 shots (.784 SV%) since the 4 Nations break.

Flyers vs Penguins same-game parlay (SGP)

Flyers moneyline

Over 5.5

Matvei Michkov 1+ point

The Flyers have gone Over 5.5 goals themselves in each of their two games since the break and the Penguins are capable of scoring a few as well, so I’m a bit surprised to see this total at 5.5 instead of 6.5 or just a flat 6.

Matvei Michkov has been absolutely buzzing after having nearly two weeks off to rest and regroup. The rookie has five points (one goal, four assists) in his last two games. That includes a two-assist game on Tuesday against the Pens.
