Bruins vs Predators Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Saros Stands Tall In Net

The Bruins and Predators hook up in Smashville and with both teams giving up north of 30 shots per game, our NHL picks believe both teams will come out looking to get pucks on net. Cue Juuse Saros and a return to form.

The Boston Bruins visit the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena in a tape-measuring matchup between contenders in the Stanley Cup odds on Monday. Nashville was the talk of the NHL before dropping a pair of road games and allowing 15 goals in the process, but home cooking stands to help the Predators given their active 7-0-1 record at Bridgestone.

Still, Boston is a small road favorite in the NHL odds while trying to chase down the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and win a second consecutive President’s Trophy. Are the Predators ripe for a bounce-back showing, or will the Bruins show up to Smashville in style?

Here’s our breakdown of the matchup with free NHL picks and NHL player props for the Bruins vs. Predators showdown on Tuesday, April 2.

Bruins vs Predators predictions

While the Nashville Predators sported a league-high and unsustainable 105.0 PDO at five-on-five during their 16-0-2 stretch that catapulted them into a wild-card spot in the Western Conference, they still did a lot right. Nashville ranked fourth with a 54.7 Corsi For percentage and paced the league with a 57.0 expected goals for percentage at 5-on-5 during the stretch.

Additionally, No. 1 goalie Juuse Saros found top form with a 12-0-2 record, .932 save percentage, 1.92 GAA, and 0.55 goals saved above average per 60 minutes before allowing six to the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. With the Boston Bruins ranking 25th in expected goals per 60 (2.77) on the highway, this sets up as a perfect rebound spot for Saros.

The Bruins have lacked bite on the road all season, too. They dip from a 22nd-ranked 48.9 CF% and 14th-ranked 51.7 xGF% at TD Garden to a 25th-ranked 45.8 CF% and 17th-ranked 49.0 xGF% on the highway.

Still, this is a potential uptick in class for the Preds. Even with the underwhelming underlying numbers, the Bruins are tied for third in the NHL with 101 points, and four of Nashville’s past seven opponents are outside the playoff picture.

As a result, I’m targeting the saves total for Saros because I anticipate the Bruins showing up to Smashville and pushing the Preds. Boston has topped 30 shots in three consecutive games, and Nashville has allowed at least 35 in three straight, too.

My best bet: Juuse Saros Over 25.5 saves (-105 at DraftKings)

Bruins vs Predators same-game parlay

Juuse Saros Over 25.5 saves

Jason Zucker Over 2.5 shots

In addition to my best bet, I’m also turning to the shot total for Preds winger Jason Zucker. He’s recorded 27 shots and 39 attempts through 10 games since joining Nashville and cleared this 2.5 benchmark in seven of those contests. Zucker skates in a top-six role and with the No. 2 power-play unit, and he’s climbed from 8.71 shots per 60 across 51 games with Arizona to 11.88 per 60 since joining Nashville.

Bruins vs Predators moneyline and Over/Under analysis

  • There has been a minor adjustment to this moneyline with Nashville moving from an opening +105 to -104 through Pinnacle as of Tuesday afternoon.
  • The movement aligns with the highlighted gaps in a number of meaningful underlying statistics, but I don't expect there to be additional major moves.
  • There isn’t a consensus total with the available 5.5 numbers carrying a higher vig on the Over, and the 6.0 totals saddled with a higher vig on the Under.
  • It’s also notable that Boston has played to the Under in five of its past six road games.
