After kicking off their 6-game homestand with a win, the Vancouver Canucks look to make two straight and four wins in the last five when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning Sunday afternoon.

Tampa Bay, who won the first matchup between these two, are slight -102 road dogs on the moneyline in the NHL odds.

As the Lightning are the second-highest scoring team in the league, Vancouver will need to be able to keep up offensively for a chance at a win.

My Lightning vs. Canucks prediction and NHL picks have red-hot Vancouver winger Jake DeBrusk playing a prominent role in that.

My Canucks analysis
It’s been quite a debut season for Jake DeBrusk, who spent his first seven seasons with Boston before signing with the Vancouver Canucks this season.

He’s been one of the main offensive hubs for Vancouver through the first 25 games.

DeBrusk had a goal in Vancouver’s 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday night, giving him the team lead in goals at 12, and ranking Top 4 in points with 21.

He has now scored in four straight games, and in six of the last seven, racking up nine goals and 11 points during this run.

He has a career-high 27 tallies in a year, done twice with Boston, but he’s flirting with a pace that could hit 40 if he keeps it up.

While the Tampa Bay Lightning can fill it up, they are susceptible on the other end, ranking 18th in goals against, allowing 3.01 per game.

They have a pair of eight-goal blowout wins over the last two weeks, but they are 3-4-0 in their last seven and have surrendered at least four goals in each of those losses.

Tampa has also struggled short-handed, with a 78.9% kill rate, which ranks just 21st in the NHL.

Vancouver is a Top 10 team with the man advantage, and DeBrusk has been ringing it up on the powerplay, with five goals over the last seven games.

He picked up a single assist in the first meeting, a 4-1 Lightning win, and if you want to play it safe you can get him at -138 odds to pick up at least a point.

There’s a little more reward if you’ve got him lighting the lamp, which is our play on Sunday.

Canucks vs Lightning Odds analysis

Vancouver has lost each of their last 10 games following a home win. The Canucks are 5-1-0 in their last six as moneyline favorites.

Tampa Bay has owned this head-to-head, winning eight of the last nine meetings.

The Lightning’s Over record is 5-1-1 over their last seven.
