With a win in regulation, the Vancouver Canucks can sew up the Pacific Division crown tonight when they pay a visit to the second-place Edmonton Oilers.
Conversely, an Oil win pulls them to within a point, with a game in hand, and places them firmly in the driver’s seat to wrestle away a division Vancouver has owned all season.
It’s a must-see showdown at Rogers Place. Check below for my free Canucks vs. Oilers predictions and NHL picks for Saturday, April 13.

My analysis
The Vancouver Canucks are seeking a four-game regular season series sweep, and they’ve been dominant across their first three wins, outscoring the Edmonton Oilers 18-6.
The timing certainly matters here, though. Their last head-to-head was November 6, and Edmonton has been the league’s best team, going 46-14-4 since that 6-2 drubbing. Vancouver hasn’t been a slouch, going 39-20-8 — the 10th-best record over that span — but it’s been wildly inconsistent down the home stretch.
Wednesday’s 4-3 OT loss to the Arizona Coyotes gives Vancouver five losses in its last eight, unable to string back-to-back wins together since winning three in a row from March 19-23.
Keeping the puck out of their net has been an issue in recent contests. The ‘Nucks, who have a sparkling 2.72 goals against on the season, have allowed 4.4 goals across their last five losses.
Edmonton has carried the league’s third-best offense since that November loss, averaging 3.73 goals per game. While they were also slowed by an OT loss to the Coyotes, Edmonton had reeled off eight wins in its previous 12, averaging five goals a game in those wins.
Hart Trophy candidate Connor McDavid is expected to be back in the lineup after missing two games with a lower-body injury.
Vancouver has not been an underdog much this season — just six times since Feb 8 — but it has not fared well in those scenarios, going 1-5. While you should see their best effort in this crucial contest, Edmonton is poised to tighten the race and create a photo finish for the Pacific.
Canucks vs Oilers same-game parlay (SGP)
While he was kept off the scoresheet against the Coyotes, Leon Draisaitl has been piling up points for the Oilers with 12 goals and 30 points in the last 21 games, including a stretch where he potted goals in five straight.
Draisaitl has been one of the lone bright spots against Vancouver in their head-to-heads this season, the only Oiler to tally in each of the three games. That seems to be par for the course against the ‘Nucks as he has goals in four straight against them.
While all eyes are on McDavid’s return and his quest for 100 assists, I like Draisaitl to light the lamp again.
Brock Boeser has had himself a season, hitting the 40-goal plateau for the first time in his career. Part of that success was his early play against these Oilers, as he potted four goals in Game 1 of the season against Edmonton in an 8-1 blowout.
Boeser also has goals in two of his last three games. With much at stake tonight, expect Vancouver’s leading scorer to show up.
