The Los Angeles Clippers try to turn their home fortunes around in their brand new building when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.

The Clips have lost the first three of a five-game homestand and are 0-4 at the state-of-the-art Intuit Dome. Still, they’re pegged as 4-point favorites in the NBA odds.

Spurs vs Clippers prediction

My best bet
Clippers -3.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
If the Los Angeles Clippers want that elusive first win at home, they need to land the plane with better play in the second half. They lost 105-92 to the Thunder last time out in a game they led 57-53 at halftime before their offensive dried coming home.

That’s been a recurring theme for this edition of the Clips, who are still awaiting the debut of Kawhi Leonard. L.A. has held a second-half lead in all four home games this year – including a double-digit lead in three of those games — and failed to seal the win.

The San Antonio Spurs could be the get-right game for them, as L.A. has reeled off seven straight wins against San Antonio, also going 5-2 ATS over that span. There are only five teams that put up fewer points than the Kawhi-less Clippers, and the Spurs are one of them, posting just 105.2 points per game.

L.A. will have several factors working for them Monday: they’re the league leaders in paint scoring defense, the only team to hold teams to below 40 points per game.

And finally, the Spurs are a Bottom-4 scoring team in the second half, posting only 53.7 points after halftime. A decent effort from the Clippers should land them their first home W of the season.

Spurs vs Clippers same-game parlay (SGP)

Clippers -3.5

Norman Powell Over 20.5 points

Victor Wembanyama Under 10.5 rebounds

With Paul George gone and Kawhi still sidelined, Norman Powell has emerged as the current go-to guy. He’s been the leading scorer in three of five games on the year, including the last game when he went for 24 in the loss to the Thunder.

It’s the fifth time in six games Wemby has gone sub 10 rebounds in a game, and he’ll be fighting for boards against an L.A. team that’s second in the league in rebounds per game.
