The Vancouver Canucks are fresh off an impressive shutout victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
My Canucks vs. Sharks predictions see Vancouver building on that against the NHL’s 32nd-placed team, with Brock Boeser leading the charge offensively.
Let’s break things down further with my NHL picks for February 6.

My Canucks pick
Brock Boeser anytime goalscorer (+180 at Pinnacle)
My Canucks analysis
Brock Boeser lives for games against the San Jose Sharks. The veteran sniper has feasted on the Pacific Division bottom feeders for years, scoring nine goals over the past 12 head-to-head meetings — including the most recent one in late December.
To say Boeser’s catching the Sharks at the right time would be an understatement. They've allowed a whopping 48 goals over their past 10 games, putting them seven clear of the Montreal Canadiens. They simply cannot keep the puck out of their net.
There's no reason to expect that to change. The Sharks continue to give up insane shot quality nightly, having allowed the most expected goals and scoring chances in the NHL over the past 10 games.
Making matters worse, they just sold off rentals Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci. Granlund has produced nearly a point per game this season, while Ceci was the team’s leading minute-muncher.
Those departures only spread the Sharks more thin — and they weren’t exactly flush with quality depth in the first place.
The Boeser, Elias Pettersson, Jake DeBrusk line should spend a lot of time in San Jose’s defensive zone, heavily testing projected starter Vitek Vanecek.
He hasn’t exactly been up to the task this season, winning three of 14 starts and posting an .885 SV% along the way. Vanecek has conceded at least three goals in six consecutive starts and owns a Goals Saved Above Expected total of -5.3 on the year.
He is not a good goaltender and a high-end shooter like Boeser should be able to take advantage.
Canucks vs Sharks odds analysis
No Quinn Hughes, no problem. The line has still swung drastically in the Vancouver Canucks' direction since opening, with the Canucks’ moneyline price shifting from -173 to -194, a massive 21-cent swing.
The Canucks have dominated the Sharks historically, winning nine of the past 10 matchups. That trend should continue against a bad San Jose team that has made itself worse with the departures of Granlund and Ceci, as well as the demotion of their best netminder, Yaroslav Askarov.
The total opened at 6.0 but has shifted to 5.5, with the Over a little bit juiced at a -114 price point.
Vancouver is in a good spot to jumpstart its attack, but creating offense figures to be a challenge for San Jose. The Canucks slot second in expected goals against over the last 10 games and bolstered their blueline with the recent trade acquisition of Marcus Pettersson.
