The Calgary Flames and Utah Hockey Club both look to snap lengthy losing skids when they meet at the Delta Center on Wednesday, October 30.

My Flames vs. Utah predictions and NHL picks call for Calgary starter Dustin Wolf to continue his strong play and pad the saves column again tonight.

Flames vs Utah prediction

My Flames pick
Dustin Wolf Over 27.5 saves (-105 at BET99)

My Flames analysis
Dustin Wolf has been busy to start the season with an average of 36 shots per game, and he’s posted a rock-solid .924 SV%, 2.74 GAA, and 0.50 goals saved above average per 60 minutes. He’s also recorded 30 or more saves in all four starts.

Wolf was a two-time goalie of the year winner in the AHL and the league MVP during the 2022-23 season, so expectations have always been high for the 23-year-old American. His anticipated ascent also opened the door for the Calgary Flames to part ways with former Flames No. 1 Jacob Markstrom.

So far, Wolf has done his part to prove it was a sound decision.

I also anticipate him seeing plenty of rubber again tonight because the Utah Hockey Club blew a three-goal lead in the final five minutes during its 5-4 overtime loss to the last-place San Jose Sharks on Monday.

Utah has also been one of the better 5-on-5 possession teams in the league with a fifth-ranked 53.4 Corsi For percentage, while Calgary sports a 26th-ranked 47.0 mark. The Flames have allowed the fourth-most shots per game (33.2), too.

In addition to Wolf’s solid start, I also value Utah hasn’t been particularly dangerous despite the solid possession numbers. It ranks 18th in goals (2.52) and 16th in expected goals (2.51) per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, and the Club sports a 24th-ranked 14.8 power-play percentage.

This is a promising setup for Wolf to build on his solid start.

Flames vs Utah same-game parlay (SGP)

Dustin Wolf Over 27.5 saves

Clayton Keller Over 2.5 shots

Dylan Guenther Over 2.5 shots

The Hockey Club has loaded up their No. 1 line with wingers Clayton Keller and Dylan Guenther flanking center Logan Cooley, and the trio has been solid in a small sample. They’ve been on the ice for an impressive 9.05 goals per 60 minutes and possess a 55.6 CF% at 5-on-5 together.

I expect the trio to tilt the ice in their favor tonight, helping out my best bet.

Keller has recorded three or more shots in eight of 10 games this season, and Guenther has three or more in six of 10. Both wingers also skate with the No. 1 power-play unit and respectively average a healthy 19:13 and 16:17 of ice time per game.

Guenther has seen extra run with an average of 17:47 across his past five games, too.
