The Vegas Golden Knights head north of the border to take on the Edmonton Oilers for the first time this season. The Golden Knights were the underdog when the lines opened, but recent events have flipped the odds at most sportsbooks.
Vegas has lost two of its last three but did win its last game two nights ago, defeating the Arizona Coyotes 4-1. The Oilers have been hit hard with injuries, most notably to forwards Evander Kane and Kailer Yamamoto. They have lost five of their last seven, including Wednesday night to the LA Kings.

Golden Knights vs Oilers picks and predictions
The Edmonton Oilers have been affected by injuries to their forwards. Evander Kane is out until March after being cut by a skate blade on his wrist, and Kailer Yamamoto suffered an undisclosed injury a week ago and isn’t expected in the lineup for a while.
Coach Jay Woodcroft has had to shuffle his lines, and at practice on Friday, Woodcraft was tinkering with different possibilities with the forwards. It appears Mattias Janmark will take Kane’s spot, skating with Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman. Warren Foegele will be on the second line with Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
The Vegas Golden Knights have cooled off a bit after nine straight victories. They have lost two of their last three since then, including an embarrassing 5-2 defeat to the San Jose Sharks at home.
The Golden Knights are getting scoring from all four lines, and the defense has produced 44 points — the third most in the NHL. That is despite having just seven goals all season. First-line defenseman Alex Pietrangelo leads the team in assists with 15.
The showdown of two of the best scorers in the league — Vegas center Jack Eichel and McDavid — should be interesting to watch. Eichel comes in with 10 goals to McDavid’s league-leading 15.
With two top-six forwards out for Edmonton, I like Vegas to hand the Oilers their second straight loss at home.

Golden Knights vs Oilers moneyline analysis
Edmonton went from a -120 favorite to a +100 dog. It’s understandable since the team is missing Kane and Yamamoto. Before he was injured, Kane had five goals and eight assists. That’s a big chunk of offense missing.
The Oilers are eighth in goals for, and that is mostly due to McDavid and Draisaitl compiling 60 points — compared to 87 for the rest of the active roster.
Stopping the Golden Knights is the key. Vegas is 11-0 when it scores three or more goals but just 2-4 when it scores less than three.
Nine Golden Knights have 11 or more points. Another area that has improved from last year is the power play. They are 13th in the league in power play percentage, scoring at a 22.2% clip. Last year, they ranked a dismal 25th.
The Golden Knights are 7-0 against a team with a winning record and 6-0 in their last six road games. Edmonton is 2-5 in its last seven games overall. I don’t see the Oilers defeating Vegas on Saturday night.
Golden Knights vs Oilers Over/Under analysis
Despite all the goals these two teams can put up, the Under has been the overwhelming trend when Vegas and Edmonton play each other.
Goaltending is a big reason for that. Vegas goalie Logan Thompson is seventh in the league in goals against average at 2.27 and tied for fifth in save percentage at .925. Edmonton netminder Stuart Skinner is 13th in GAA at 2.47 and third in SV% at .932.
It is a bit concerning that Vegas has hit the Over in its last four road games. However, the Golden Knights have hit the Under in six of their last nine games and are 5-1-1 in their last seven after allowing two goals or less in their previous outing.
The only way the Oilers are going to beat Vegas is if they keep them contained. This game should be a physical, low-scoring affair.
