The Carolina Hurricanes and Nashville Predators square off at Bridgestone Arena in the Music City tonight.
The Canes picked up a 3-2 win in overtime last time out as they try to hold on to the Metropolitan Division. Meanwhile, the Predators are still very much alive for a postseason spot after posting a huge 3-2 OT win over Vegas Tuesday night.
Will Carolina strengthen its Divison lead, or will Nashville grab two big points to make a late push for a Wild Card? We’ll discuss in our NHL betting picks for the Hurricanes vs. Predators on Thursday, April 6.

Hurricanes vs Predators picks and predictions
The Hurricanes have rattled off three straight wins despite lighting the lamp just eight times during the span. In fact, Carolina has posted 10 goals in the previous five outings.
However, tremendous defense and timely goaltending have helped it to this three-game win streak, with Antti Raanta picking up two wins — including a shutout of the Montreal Canadiens.
The last time these teams met on January 5, the Predators registered a 5-3 win against the Hurricanes, with Juuse Saros stopping 64 of the 67 shots he faced. It was the third-most saves in the regular season in a single game, and it set a franchise record.
This game figures to be a little more defensive, as Carolina has played well in both the back end, as well as in the crease. Pressure is ratcheted up quite a bit more than in January, and both have a lot on the line.
Whether it’s Frederik Andersen (20-9-1, 2.42 GAA, .904 SV%, 1 SO) or Antti Raanta (18-2-3, 2.20 GAA, .911 SV%, 4 SO) getting the nod from head coach Rod Brind’Amour, it will be a goalie who didn’t face the Preds the first time. Rookie Pyotr Kochetkov was the goalie in the first meeting, and he’s with Chicago of the AHL right now.
Saros will get a chance to try and cool off the Hurricanes again, and that’s a little bit of a concern for a team struggling to score goals lately. However, Carolina is playing with a lot of confidence, tremendous defense, and timely goaltending. I fully expect the Hurricanes to return the favor in a low-scoring affair.
Since the moneyline is so high on the road favorites, I prefer playing the Under, especially at Under 6.0 for a little extra juice.
My best bet: Under 6 (-122 at BetRivers)

Hurricanes vs Predators moneyline analysis
I’d shy away from playing the Hurricanes on the moneyline because it’s too expensive, but I’d also shy away from rolling the dice on the puck line, as Carolina has won the past two games by just a single goal each.
In fact, the Hurricanes are 1-5 on the puck line in the past six games when favored. They were also a heavy favorite (-225) in the first meeting with Nashville, and Carolina lost outright.
The Predators are playing with some confidence after a 3-2 OT win over the Golden Knights in a game Nashville had to have. It has alternated wins and losses in each of the past six games while managing just six points out of an available 14. If it misses the playoffs, those lost points will be a major reason why.
Carolina is 10-4 in the past 14 games on the road and 22-9 in the past 31 games against teams with a winning overall record. The juice is rather high to back the road favorites, but it’s the way to go, especially if you were to toss Carolina into a multi-team parlay to lessen the risk a little.
Hurricanes vs Predators Over/Under analysis
The Hurricanes have cashed the Under in four consecutive games while going 9-4-1 in the past 14 games against teams with a winning overall record. In addition, the Under has hit at a 4-1 clip in the past five games after a straight up win for the Canes.
For the home side, it’s all about the Under, too. The Under is 7-2 in the past nine skates at Bridgestone Arena, while cashing at a 3-1-1 clip in the past five games overall.
While we saw eight total goals in the first matchup in Raleigh, with much higher stakes with just a handful of games remaining in the regular season, look for a defensive slog in the Music City.
