The two Canadian clubs currently best positioned to bring the Stanley Cup back north collide at Rogers arena, when the Vancouver Canucks host the Winnipeg Jets.

The Canucks are currently the top team in the league, and the only one that’s cracked 80 points (in 55 games). They’re -125 moneyline favorites Saturday night in the NHL odds.

Winnipeg currently sits third in the Central Division, with 69 points in 51 games. It’s looking for a third straight win.

It’s the first of three meetings down the home stretch of the regular season. Find out what bet I like best, below in my free Canucks vs Capitals NHL picks for Saturday, February 17.

Jets vs Canucks predictions

Vancouver’s mini two-game skid just after the All-Star break is deep in the rearview mirror now, as the Canucks have since ripped off three straight wins, the latest a 4-1 triumph over the Detroit Red Wings.

This was their first home game after a five-game trek that ended with a 3-2 OT win over Washington and a 4-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

The Canucks are the NHL’s legit two-way force, able to adapt their style to whatever is necessary.

They’re the only team to rank inside the Top 5 in both goals for and against, averaging 3.69 goals per game, second only to the Dallas Stars, while surrendering just 2.55 goals per game, which ranks third.

At the top of that goals-against list? The Winnipeg Jets, who have used a suffocating defense and a barely manageable offense to get by.

Their latest was a 1-0 win over the San Jose Sharks, with Connor Hellebuyck lightly tested with just 17 saves for the shutout. Winnipeg held the Sharks to only five shots in the third period.

Hellebuyck starred the game previous, stopping 35 shots in a 2-1 win over Pittsburgh, putting an end to an ugly five-game winless skid where they picked up just a single point.

Unfortunately, Winnipeg has just not been able to light the lamp since coming out of the All-Star break, scoring four total goals in four games. They’re putting up just 2.27 goals per game on the year.

This is a different Jets team that had dominated the Canucks in recent head-to-heads, outscoring them 16-7 over three games, all resulting in wins.

Hellebuyck is the X-factor in this one, as his stellar play of late should keep the Jets in it.

Vancouver has also played a lot of games coming out of the break, with the Jets their seventh opponent in 12 days. This one is their last at Rogers before embarking on another three-game trip.

This one should play close, with the Canucks coming out on top.

My best bet: Canucks moneyline (-125 at SIA)

Jets vs Canucks same-game parlay

Canucks moneyline

Kyle Connor anytime goal

JT Miller anytime goal

Perhaps Winnipeg’s offensive struggles will turn around against Vancouver, with a lot of the usual suspects doing the damage.

There have been three hat-tricks scored in the last four meetings, so I’m happy to target a goal on each team for Saturday.

Kyle Connor has feasted on Vancouver goaltending, notching a hat-trick the last time these teams met in a 7-4 triumph.

He has five goals and four assists in his last five against the Canucks. Feel free to swap or add Mark Scheifele onto this SGP, as he also has a hat-trick and four points in five games vs. Vancouver.

For the Canucks, it’s an embarrassment of riches offensively, with three players inside the NHL’s Top 10 in scoring.

I’m going to go with JT Miller, the league’s seventh-leading scorer, who has had great success against the Jets as well.

Miller has four goals — including a hat-trick — and four assists in his last five against the Jets, while tallying twice in the last three games overall, including a buzzer-beating OT winner against the Capitals.

Jets vs Canucks moneyline and Over/Under analysis

Vancouver has been tabbed as long as a -150 moneyline favorite, and that number is still available at some books, though sites are offering different odds all the way down to the Canucks at -120.

Winnipeg has been as long as +115 underdogs, with most books now in the +105 range.

As for the total, with two teams at opposite ends of the goal-scoring spectrum, the books have mostly settled in at 5.5 goals, a number that Vancouver has gone under four times in six games post-All-Star break.

Winnipeg has the worst Over record in the NHL at 16-31-4 and it’s not even close, with every team in the league hitting the Over at least 19 times.

The Canucks own the third-best Over mark in the NHL, at 32-21-2.
