With six losses in their last seven, the last thing the Vancouver Canucks need is a date with the hottest team in the Western Conference.

The schedule makers are showing no mercy, though, as the Edmonton Oilers roll into Rogers Arena Saturday night, looking for a fifth straight win.

The books have Vancouver as +150 home underdogs on the moneyline for this one.

While they haven't been able to find their form, our Canucks vs. Oilers analysis calls for Vancouver to keep things close against their division rival.

Read on for my NHL picks for Saturday, January 18.

Vancouver +1.5 (-173 at Pinnacle)

My Canucks analysis
The Vancouver Canucks have slid hard down the Pacific Division ladder, now in fifth place and a point back of the Flames for the second and final Wild Card spot in the West.

The Canucks had no juice in their first game back from a 1-3-2 road trip, getting bombed 5-1 by the LA Kings on Thursday night.

They have just one win in the last seven and three wins over the last 14. During this lengthy skid, the Canucks are the lowest-scoring team in hockey, putting up just 2.07 goals per game.

Their defense has cratered as well, giving up 3.43 goals per game, a Bottom-5 mark in the NHL over the last month.

It's been nothing but good vibes for their opponents Saturday night, as the Oilers came back from a 3-0 deficit to top the Colorado Avalanche 4-3. That gives them four straight wins and an 8-1-0 record over the last nine.

The Edmonton Oilers are posting 3.56 goals per game over that stretch, which is the 4th-best mark in the league, matched by the defense, tied for third over that stretch with a 2.11 GAA.

While the Oilers are deserved favorites against the struggling Canucks, Edmonton hasn't exactly been blowing away the competition.

While Colorado is a Top 10 scoring team, the Oilers have 1-goal wins in three of their last four The other opponents, Chicago and Los Angeles, are both in the bottom half of the league in scoring.

Despite an Oilers 7-3 blowout win on Nov 9, six of the previous seven meetings between these teams have been decided by one goal.

The Oilers will also be ending a marathon stretch of seven road games in eight starts.

After that massive showdown win over the Avalanche, there's potentially an emotional letdown coming against a team they're supposed to beat.

Canucks vs Oilers odds analysis

The Canucks are 2-4-1 in their last seven games as moneyline underdogs. They are 2-5-0 in their last seven against the Oilers as betting underdogs.

The Canucks have gone over the total in back-to-back games.
