Jets vs Golden Knights Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

The Winnipeg Jets look to get back in the win column tonight as they take on the Vegas Golden Knights. As Tony Satori explains, the Jets' defense will be better than they were last time out and limit the Golden Knights' offense.

The Winnipeg Jets continue their three-game road trip Thursday with a matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena. Oddsmakers list Vegas as a -124 favorite, with the total set at 5.5 goals.

With goaltender Connor Hellebuyck slated to guard the cage for Winnipeg, I’m looking to fade Vegas’ offense, as I explain in my Jets vs. Golden Knights predictions.

Read on for my NHL picks for April 3.

Jets vs Golden Knights prediction

My Jets pick: Golden Knights Under 2.5 goals (+130 at Pinnacle)

My Jets analysis
Although time may be running out, Connor Hellebuyck can still finish the season strong and make a legitimate case to become the first goaltender to win the Hart Trophy since Carey Price in 2014-15. Through 58 appearances, Hellebuyck is 43-11-3 with a .924 save percentage and 2.03 goals-against average.

That success could continue against the Vegas Golden Knights, a team Hellebuyck has a .915 save percentage against over the past 17 meetings. Making his job easier is the fact that he plays behind one of the stingiest defenses in the league.

Over the past two months, the Winnipeg Jets rank third in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). During that same stretch, Vegas ranks around the league average in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60).

The Golden Knights have also been dealing with injuries. Tomas Hertl remains sidelined with a shoulder injury, while Alex Pietrangelo is questionable with a lower-body injury.

As a result, Vegas was held to just two goals in its most recent game. Meanwhile, Hellebuyck has allowed two or fewer goals in three of his past four starts.

Jets vs Golden Knights odds analysis

Vegas opened as a -121 favorite and has since shifted to -124. Despite the small early movement, I believe that the market is likely to bring this line down closer to a pick ‘em, due to the aforementioned variables.

The total opened at 5.5 and has remained unchanged. While the juice favors the under, it’s unlikely oddsmakers will move the number down to five.
