The Montreal Canadiens have strung together a solid run of results, picking up a point in seven of their last 10 games. It’s been their offense driving the bus, scoring an impressive 3.3 goals per game in that span.
My Canadiens vs. Predators predictions see another good night for the offense in what could be a high-scoring affair.
Let’s dive deeper into my NHL picks for April 6.
Canadiens vs Predators prediction
My Canadiens pick: Over 6 (-110 at BET99)
My Canadiens analysis
The Montreal Canadiens are filling the net with regularity. They’ve scored three goals or more in eight of the last 10, only failing to do so against the Carolina Hurricanes and St. Louis Blues.
Carolina is a consistently great defensive side that limits shots and goals effectively while St. Louis is the hottest team in the NHL. It’s not exactly concerning that Montreal struggled to score against those two.
They should have an easier time against the Nashville Predators, who can’t keep the puck out of their net. They sit 25th in team save percentage on the season and 28th over the last 10 games. Even when they’re able to limit chances, the puck continues to go in.
With the way Montreal’s offense has performed of late, that trend is likely to continue in this one.
Meanwhile, Jakub Dobes is expected to get the nod in goal for the Canadiens. He started his NHL career shockingly well but has since come back to earth, allowing at least three goals in seven of his last 10. He has posted an .870 save percentage and 4.01 goals against average in that span.
This is a matchup where the offensively starved Predators should be able to contribute on the scoreboard and pot a few goals. If they’re able to do that, the Canadiens can likely take care of the rest.
Canadiens vs Predators same-game parlay (SGP)
Juraj Slafkovsky has quietly piled up the points in recent weeks. He has totaled 18 over his last 20 games and it hasn’t seemed to matter whether he has home ice or faces the toughest matchups on the road.
Slafkovsky has eight points spanning the past seven road games, including multi-point efforts against stingy defensive teams like Vancouver and Florida.
In what could be a high-event matchup with shaky goaltending, Slafkovsky has a strong chance of putting his name on the scoresheet once again.
Going the other way, Steven Stamkos is someone who pops off the page. It hasn’t been a banner year by any means but he’s produced fairly well on home soil and has seven points over his last seven in Nashville.
He is skating on the top line during five-on-five as well as on the No. 1 power play unit. He is certainly seeing ideal usage for production.
Stamkos also owns a remarkably strong track record against the Canadiens. He has picked up a point in 10 of the last 12 meetings, recording 14 along the way.
If this game goes Over the number, Stamkos should get in on the action.
