The Winnipeg Jets continue to pile up the wins, entering play with a 16-3 record on the season and in the midst of an 8-2 run.
They’re in a good spot to continue building on their historic start against a Pittsburgh Penguins team that has won just seven of 21 games thus far.

My Jets analysis
The Pittsburgh Penguins are a mouthwatering matchup for opposing shooters, ranking 30th in shot suppression at 5v5 and 23rd while killing penalties.
They also play an extremely high-event brand of hockey that lends itself to a high volume of shots flying in both directions. In fact, the Penguins lead the NHL in combined 5v5 events (shots generated + allowed) on a per-game basis.
Their games are generally factories for shooters; nobody should benefit more than Kyle Connor. Winnipeg’s star winger is off to an electric start to the season with 12 goals and 24 points through just 19 games played. He’s been their most dangerous player and go-to shooter in all situations.
Connor has piled up 70 shots on goal and 120 attempts on the season. Nikolaj Ehlers (51) is the only Jets player within 20 shots on target while Josh Morrissey (98) is the closest teammate to Connor in attempts. He is lapping the field.
Connor has faced just three subpar shot suppression teams over his last 10 games. He cleared 3.5 shots in each of them, combining to record 15 on target against the Red Wings, Blue Jackets, and Rangers.
The Penguins certainly classify as a subpar shot suppression side, and Connor has already shown the ability to take advantage. The two teams met earlier in the season and Connor registered four shots on a healthy seven attempts in a three-goal victory for the Jets.
Winnipeg has not played since Tuesday, so Connor should be well-rested and ready to go. Connor logged 20+ minutes in both games the Jets have played following two rest games, and that kind of workload could be in the cards again so long as the game remains remotely competitive.
Jets vs Penguins Odds analysis
Winnipeg and Pittsburgh don’t play very often. When they do, goals generally don’t follow. Eight of their past 10 head-to-head meetings have gone Under the number.
The Penguins have had a miserable season in the win column, and their puck line backers have fared no better. The Pens are 8-13 on the puck line this season.
We’ve seen very little movement across the board in this game. The Jets have moved just two cents on the moneyline while the total remains exactly as it opened.
