Kraken vs Canucks Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Pettersson Powers Vancouver Past Seattle

The Canucks failed to pick up two points against Calgary, but they'll look to get right against a struggling Kraken side. Seattle won't be able to keep up with the 'Nucks high-octane offense, and our NHL picks are expecting a blowout in Vancouver.

The Vancouver Canucks have yet to lose in regulation at home this season, and they’ll look for their seventh win at Rogers Arena when they host the team just down the I-5, the Seattle Kraken.

NHL odds have the ‘Nucks as -168 favorites on the moneyline, coming off just their fourth loss of the season in regulation in 17 games.

Seattle, meanwhile, just snapped a three-game skid with a 4-3 shootout win over the Islanders. Let’s jump into my free NHL picks and find out how I'm attacking this Kraken vs. Canucks matchup on November 18.

Kraken vs Canucks predictions

For once, the Vancouver Canucks' offense couldn’t bail them out as they dropped a 5-2 decision in Calgary against the Flames.

The two-goal output was just the third time all season Vancouver was held under three goals, but the Canucks still lead the NHL in goals per game at 4.24 per contest.

There’s Nucks on Nucks on Nucks at the top of the scoring leaderboard. Elias Pettersson, JT Miller, and defenseman Quinn Hughes are in a three-way tie for the scoring lead, each with 27 points.

I’m not sure how the Seattle Kraken are going to hold up. Even with the win over the Isles, they’ve won just twice in their last seven games, and have surrendered a whopping 4.14 gpg over that stretch. On the season, they’re 26th in goals allowed, surrendering 3.5 per contest.

There’s a lopsided powerplay disparity in this matchup too — Seattle's penalty kill is a lowly 28th — just a 71.9% success rate, against a Vancouver side that’s hitting on a 33.3% clip on the PP... the second-best mark in the league.

Their offense isn’t exactly lighting it up either: the Kraken are putting up 2.9 goals a game, which has them in 29th. The Canucks aren’t just all offense, holding teams to 2.4 goals per game, a Top 4 figure in the NHL.

They’ll also likely be welcoming Thatcher Demko back in between the pipes after Casey DeSmith took the L in Alberta. Demko is tied for second in wins and ranks third in both SV% (.932) and GAA (2.05).

I know Vancouver burned me last time, but I’m loving plus odds on the puck line. The Canucks have covered that in each of their last seven home games against Western Conference opponents, and I expect them to do it again.

Kraken vs Canucks same-game parlay

Canucks -1.5

Pettersson anytime goalscorer

There’s an embarrassment of riches here to choose from, but I like Pettersson's recent run of success against the Kraken. He was one of the goalscorers in the last game against the Flames, and last year, he had four goals in four games against Seattle.

I’m hopeful the good vibes carry over Saturday, the first of three meetings between these West Coast neighbors.

Kraken vs Canucks moneyline and Over/Under analysis

Earlier this week, the Canucks were as high as -200 favorites on the moneyline, but we’ve seen now books offering as long as -182. If you like Seattle as an underdog to win outright, you can get it as long as +150 odds, though the majority of books live inside the +130 to +140 range.

Seattle has won two straight in this head-to-head, but keep in mind this edition of the Canucks wouldn’t recognize last year’s squad, even though most of them endured that washed season.

As for the total, Vancouver’s offensive prowess has been accounted for, with the line set at 6.5 almost everywhere across the board, not dipping under six goals.

If you’re interested, the Over has hit the last four times these two have played in Vancouver. Seattle has also hit the Over 10 times in its last 12 against teams with a winning record.
