A small Friday NHL slate will be capped off with a battle between two Pacific Division teams as the last place Seattle Kraken will head to Anaheim to take on the Ducks. Anaheim has not played since January 31 but had taken 10 of a possible 12 points before the All-Star break. Seattle began their restart with a home loss to the lowly Coyotes on Wednesday.

Can the Kraken make any noise in the West with less than 40 games remaining? Are the Ducks worthy of a Top-3 spot in the Pacific? Find out in our free NHL picks and predictions for Kraken vs. Ducks on February 11.

Kraken vs Ducks picks and predictions

Our predictions are compiled from the analysis of the spread and total and are indications of where we are leaning for this game.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this game, which we would actually put some of our bankroll behind.

Moneyline/Puck line analysis

It’s been a rough inaugural season for the Kraken, who find themselves with the second-worst record in the Western Conference and coming off a 5-2 loss at the hands of the only team worse than them in the West.

Seattle has suffered from the worst goaltending in the league and sits with the worst goals against above expected. The Kraken come into this match without two of their top-six defensemen and own the worst offense since Christmas at 2.13 goals per game. This is a team that just lacks high-end talent at nearly every position.

Facing the Ducks at home isn’t going to do the Kraken’s offense any favors. Seattle managed just one goal on 20 shots in the mid-December meeting in Anaheim, which the home side won 4-1. On the season, the Ducks allow just 2.36 goals per game at home, which ranks as the seventh-best mark in hockey. If the Kraken are to win this game, it will have to be a low-scoring affair and with the Ducks’ possibly getting top-line winger Sonny Milano back, tonight could be a tough matchup.

The Ducks’ youth movement has helped turn this offense into a competitive one as Anaheim is scoring nearly 3.00 goals per game and is being led by Trevor Zegras, Troy Terry and even Milano. The three of them have 46 of the team’s 138 goals and Zegras and Terry each had a goal in the last meeting.

Anaheim might be 23-25 SU on the season, but it has done a great job at beating bad teams, as the Ducks are 9-2 SU in their last 11 games versus teams with a winning percentage below .400.

It doesn’t matter who Seattle throws in net, the Ducks will have the advantage. John Gibson is healthy again and owns a .944 SV% and 1.86 GAA over his last eight starts. He has also been stellar at home with a 2.05 GAA across 15 home starts.

We are finding it difficult to uncover any angle to bet the Kraken and are riding with the Ducks in regulation at even money. Seattle has a .33 point percentage on the road this year, which is the second-worst mark in hockey.

Prediction: Ducks 3-way ML (+100)

Over/Under analysis

The Kraken own the worst offense in the league since Christmas and have scored more than two goals just four times over their last 13 games. This is a team whose top line consists of Jordan Eberle, Jared McCann and Marcus Johansson. They also have a Bottom-5 power play. There is nothing to like about this offense and if we were to take to the Over, we’d likely need four goals from the Ducks.

Offensively, the Ducks are a middle-of-the-pack team. Their 2.8 goals per game ranks 19th, but since Christmas, this offense is struggling to find success and is averaging just 2.31 goals per game, which is the third-worst mark in hockey. Tonight’s game will feature two of the Bottom-3 offenses over the last seven weeks.

If it weren’t for the goaltending, perhaps this Seattle team would be more competitive, as it sits in the Top 10 in expected goals against — one spot better than the Lightning. This is a team that doesn’t give up a ton of shots or chances and allowed: just 24 shots on net in the last meeting. Defensively they are good, it's just Seattle's offense and goaltending that have held them down this season.

Both teams are in the top half of the league in high-danger shots allowed and it's the reason that the total is leaning to the Under at 5.5. The last meeting closed at 5.5 (-110) and that game featured backups Chris Driedger and Anthony Stolarz. We like the Under here at 5.5.

Prediction: Under 5.5 (-115)

Best bet

There is an argument to made that the Kraken have the worst offense in hockey. They are missing their best skilled player in Jaden Schwartz and sit in the bottom of the league in goal production over the last seven weeks. The power play is awful and their 2.05 expected goals per game at even strength is only better than Buffalo, Arizona and Chicago.

Gibson has been stellar of late and he’s been more than solid on home ice this year. The Kraken are also in California for one game before traveling across the continent to Toronto for a game on Monday. We expect the Ducks to take this in regulation but feel the safer bet is to hit the Kraken’s team total Under 2.5 at -120. Excluding empty-net goals, Seattle has managed to score three or more goals in regulation just twice over its last 13 games.

Pick: Kraken team total Under 2.5 (-120)
