Our side and total predictions are based upon our analysis of the line and total in this game. Our best bet is our favorite pick across all markets.
Moneyline analysis
The Winnipeg Jets had a tough season and will miss out on the playoffs, but they are doing everything they can to end this season on a high note. They have won their previous three games and have done a great job in their defensive end as they have outscored their opponents 11-2 during that span.
Connor Hellebuyck started in two of those three games and only allowed two goals against on a total of 64 shots. Hellebuyck has had a decent season, sporting a 2.97 GAA and a .910 save percentage. Hellebuyck is definitely the better goaltender in this matchup considering that Phillip Grubauer has not had a very good season. Grubauer is 18-31-5 with a 3.16 GAA and a .889 save percentage.
To be fair, the Kraken don’t help out their goalie much since they are one of the worst offensive teams in the league, only scoring 2.59 goals per game. Winnipeg has way more talent up front with names like Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele.
Connor has had an incredible season with 46 goals and 46 assists in 78 games. Scheifele hasn’t been as good as Connor, but he has 29 goals and 41 assists in 67 games.
I expect these two to generate a ton of scoring chances against a weak Seattle blue line and I think Hellebuyck will keep up his strong play and not allow the Kraken to score many goals. I like the Jets to win.
Prediction: Jets moneyline (-200 at DraftKings)
Over/Under analysis
This might not be the strongest goaltending battle, but both of these teams are in the bottom half of the league for offensive production.
The Winnipeg Jets have not had a very good month of April, ranking as the 22nd best offense during the month, averaging 2.75 goals per game while the Kraken have been even worse, ranking 27th.
Hellebuyck has been playing really well as of late and with a struggling Kraken offense, I don’t expect them to put up many goals. The Jets won’t have a hard time generating scoring chances as they are the tenth best team at doing so, averaging 12.46 high-danger chances per game.
I still think 6.5 is too high of a number for these teams, however, so the Under is the play.
Prediction: Under 6.5 (-115 at DraftKings)
Best bet
The Seattle Kraken might be coming off of a shootout win against the Sharks, but in their two contests against the Jets this year, they did not find much success.
In those games, the Jets outscored them by a combined 8-3, and the Kraken have struggled mightily on the road this season with a record of 11-26-3. The Jets have been solid at home, going 21-15-3, and have won three straight games on home ice.
The Jets are simply a much better team with the edge offensively and in goal, and could have easily been a playoff team. I think the Jets not only win but get the job done in regulation.
Pick: Jets three-way moneyline (-125 at DraftKings)
