There is a Pacific Division tilt in the late window of Wednesday's NHL slate with the Los Angeles Kings hosting the Seattle Kraken. NHL odds have Los Angeles as a sizable -178 favorite while the total sits at 5.5.
The Under has been a profitable bet when these two teams have squared off over the past couple of seasons, going 5-1 across the past six meetings. There were five or fewer total goals scored in five of those six outings.
Will the Under cash once again, or can the goals pick up this time around? Find out in my free NHL picks for Kraken vs. Kings on Wednesday, April 3.

Kraken vs Kings predictions
We are catching a low total in this matchup because of the projected goaltending battle. Joey Daccord is slated to guard the cage for the Seattle Kraken, and he has been one of the best netminders in the league this year.
I’m not quite sure why he doesn’t get the attention that he deserves, but Daccord boasts a .918 SV% and 2.42 GAA through 47 appearances in the crease. He has now allowed two or fewer goals in four consecutive appearances between the pipes, posting a commanding .936 SV% and 1.34 GAA over that stretch.
There were four or fewer total goals scored in three of those four outings. This success is likely to continue against the Los Angeles Kings, a team that Daccord boasts a .963 SV% through two starts against.
The Under cashed in both of those games, with five or fewer total goals scored in each. Now, the one argument I could see as to why Daccord doesn’t get more respect is that he plays behind arguably the best defensive team in hockey.
This season, the Kraken rank first in the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). With this combination of strong defensive play and goaltending, it is not shocking that they rank in the Top 10 of the league in goals allowed per game and shots on goal allowed per game.
Meanwhile, the Kings rank in the Top 4 in each of those categories as well. They profile similarly, given that they rank seventh in xGA/60 and also possess a tremendous goaltender in Cam Talbot.
My best bet: Under 5.5 (+102 at FanDuel)
Kraken vs Kings same-game parlay
Talbot’s success has been well-documented this season, and he has been every bit as good as Daccord. Through 48 appearances in the crease, Talbot boasts a .915 SV% and 2.48 GAA.
Also like Daccord, Talbot has had a lot of success against tonight’s opponent, as he has allowed just two goals in four of his five career starts against Seattle. There were five or fewer total goals scored in three of those four outings.
With that said, combining Los Angeles’ moneyline with the Under is a way to play the sizable favorite at plus-money. The Kings are a much stronger team offensively, are on home ice, and rank 12 spots higher than the Kraken in expected goal differential per 60 minutes this season.

Kraken vs Kings moneyline and Over/Under analysis
- Los Angeles opened as a -176 favorite and have since been bet slightly up to its current price of -178. I only expect this line to get wider as the Kings are the more well-rounded team and are on home ice.
- The total opened at 5.5 and remains at that number. In a Daccord/Talbot matchup with two below-average offenses, I would be shocked if this total moves off that number.
- Los Angeles has won two of the past three meetings between these two teams.
