Moneyline pick
The Maple Leafs are third in the NHL in point percentage and have the third-best futures odds to win the Stanley Cup. Although the Buds had a slump in early March, they have since righted the ship, winning nine of their last 10 games and coming off a 6-5 victory over the Senators on Saturday.
Toronto's starting goalie Frederik Andersen is on the IR but backup Jack Campbell has been fantastic. He had his worst game of the year on Saturday, surrendering five goals, but is still a perfect 11-0 on the season with a 1.88 goals-against average and a save percentage of .934.
Led by the league's leading scorer in Auston Matthews (31 goals in 38 games) the Leafs have had plenty of success on the offensive end of the ice, ranking fifth in the NHL in goals per game (3.37) and first in high-danger chances per 60 minutes (13.31).
The Canadiens looked great at the start of the year but have fallen off since then, winning just nine of their last 26 games and currently riding a three-game losing streak.
The Habs also been without their starting goalie in Carey Price, but they've had much less success with their No. 2 netminder. Montreal has lost nine of the last 10 games that Jake Allen has started in, albeit with four of those defeats coming in overtime. Allen actually hasn't looked that bad for the most part but his teammates aren't giving him much help, averaging just 1.44 goals per game in those nine losses.
With the Leafs having won four of the five meetings between these Original Six rivals this season, take them to win again against a slumping Montreal side.
PREDICTION: Toronto ML (-135)
Over/Under pick
While both teams will be rolling with their backup goalies in this game, Campbell and Allen have actually both been statistically superior to the starters.
We mentioned Campbell's brilliant numbers and he should bounce back from an off night on Saturday. Allen is also coming off a poor performance, where he gave up five goals, but the reliable vet still has an impressive 2.53 GAA and a .912 SV% across 14 games.
Under trends also abound for both teams, with the Leafs 6-2-1 to the Under in their last nine games against teams with a losing SU record and Montreal cashing the Under in five of its previous six contests as an underdog.
With the Under also hitting in three of the last four games in the head-to-head back it again tonight.
PREDICTION: Under 6 (-115)
